It's a pop album and I don't mean that disparagingly. b, 21b, 21I have to review the thing and so I've been sitting with it on repeat a lot the last few days and I have to say: I actually think this is a pretty good album. It certainly isn't anywhere as satisfying as his previous ones but I don't think it's meant to be "satisfying." I've got a lot more to say about the auto-tune but the short story is this: total gimmick and shameless but once you get over it, it ceases to be a real issue and is far less interesting to talk about compared to the rest of the sound of the album.

There's just a blatant lack of soulfood for old dudes like me. Lyrically, I don't care much about what he's saying. His singing abilities are very limited. The high notes, oh Lord...There's a lack of bass, violins, clavinet, guitars, etc...It's just not for me. But it will certainly appeal to most girls and boys in the schoolyards, hard-working women, street sluts, media jocks, etc...lol...The target is mad large with this LP.
