"I'm just disgusted by the whole ordeal," she said.b,121b,121You mean the one you started? The ordeal you are causing to drag on and on? F*ck you. Just turn over the book. The administration has much better things to spend their time on. I'm sure they'd be glad to restrict it or put in the mature, 17+ section or something so that they can get on with their lives. Give them a chance to deliver you from your disgusting ordeal. b,121b,121f*cking people. Her name is Taffey, I guess that'll cause you to have issues.

when I was in 10th grade a local evangelical church raised a stink about 'objectionable books' in the high school library - the first book they wanted removed was 'Of Mice and Men' - they also wanted unfettered access to the library to 'review' their holdings - myself & few other students spoke out at the school board meeting where the church members were pressing their case & threatening a recall election if the board didn't vote their way - I distinctly remember an older gentlemen calling me a communist & cursing at a 9th grade girlb,121b,121it's not enough to stop their own kids from reading 'objectionable' books, they need to prevent everyones kids from reading them...b,121b,121PAGING SARAH PALIN

font class="post"1b,121b,121b,121A book with no words was purchased to encourage reluctant readers????b,121b,121b,121That like starting a thread with no subject to encourage reluctant lurkers.... b,121b,121h,121font class="post"1b,121b,121those two things are nothing alike. lurkers are looking at threads. if they weren't, they wouldn't be lurkers. reluctant readers, on the other hand, are not look at books. a silly book like this could help kids realize that not every book is filled with the same stuff that they find--and are bored by--in their textbooks. also, a book like this could be a starting place for critical discourse--showing kids that interpretation that can be applied to "romeo and juliet" can be applied to images etc.

I would probably not want to have the suicide talk with #1 son when he's just 5 years old. b,121b,121When he's 13, I would be more worried if my son was unable to see the humor in this book.b,121b, 21It's not that funny, btw. I rather he pursued more normal 13 year-old behaviour, like cracking one off to t3h pr0nz0r every time our back was turned.b,121b,121I had to make do with a car mag stashed under the bed, whose pages contained an small monochrome preview of the forthcoming img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pasue23is.gif" alt="" 21 Pirelli calendar.b,121b,121[caveman noise]b,121b,121And look at me, I've turned out alright; they could never make it stand up in court.

Age-related:b,121b, 21"Karl Walker was told by a cleaning firm that he is not old enough to use hot water, washing up liquid and furniture polish or to empty bins.b,121b,121The AS-level student and a friend were hired by Apollo Cleaning and worked in offices in Chippenham, Wiltshire, for a week until a regional manager ordered them to stop. The firm says it is following government guidelines by insisting on safety clearance.b,121b,121At 16, Karl is old enough to join the Army and fire a gun, play the lottery, have sex legally and get married, but the firm said he required special permission to use cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners.b,121b,121Karl, who is studying for four AS levels, said: "I just don't understand what is going on. How can I be too young to use a vacuum cleaner? It is so stupid. I want to earn a living."b,121b,121His mother Susan, 47, said: "My son is legally old enough to get married or join the Army yet these people think he is too young to be able to hoover up. The entire situation is a joke."b,121b,121Paul Lundy, boss of London-based Apollo Cleaning, said: "When an employee is only 16 we have to be very careful with the tasks we set them as their bodies are not yet fully formed.b,121b,121"But I am sure once the proper checks have been completed there will be no problem in re-employing these young people." I'm not trying to marginalize anyone, but finding literary material personally /b1 objectionable is the basis of a majority of censorship attempts in this country, hence this story...

b, 21...and in further right-wing news, just in case you wondered what kind of example our concerned-in-Oregon was following, what does the good ol' US government do when it doesn't like a school curriculum? Bombs that school to hell of course!b,121b,121/font1
Quote:/font1h,121b,121A suspected US air strike killed nine people at a religious school in north-west Pakistan, intelligence officials said today.b,121b, 21It was claimed the school, on the outskirts of Miran Shah, the main town in the North Waziristan region, had links to the Taliban.b,121b,121Four of those killed in the attack were found in the rubble of the school. Two others were injured.b,121b,121The attack is being seen as a sign of US frustration at Pakistan's approach to counter-terrorism.b,121b, 21It came within hours of Pakistan's parliament warning against any incursions on Pakistani soil. MPs called for a review of national security, making talks with militants the top priority. b,121b,121Unnamed intelligence officials told the Associated Press that the religious school belonged to a local pro-Taliban cleric who had been linked to the veteran Taliban commander Jalaluddin Haqqani, considered a top target of the US. b,121b,121Militants in the north-west are blamed for rising attacks on US and Nato forces in neighbouring Afghanistan, as well as suicide attacks within Pakistan.b,121b, 21Cross-border US missile attacks have angered Pakistan, which sees them as a violation of its sovereignty.b, 21b, 21Yesterday's parliamentary resolution on security had few details, apparently a result of political compromise after two weeks of debate.b,121b, 21It did not directly mention two of the most divisive issues surrounding the terror fight: army offensives in the north-west and calls for unconditional talks with the extremists.b,121b,121The major opposition parties recognise the need for military action against the insurgents, but rarely express it forcefully because they want to maintain support among ordinary Pakistanis who are deeply suspicious of the war.b,121b,121The seven-month-old government hailed the 14-point document as a "historic moment for the country". The information minister, Sherry Rehman, said: "This will definitely help to improve the situation and to rid the country of the menace of terrorism."b,121b,121The resolution calls for an "independent foreign policy", a sign of wariness of American influence.b,121b, 21It states Pakistan will not let its soil be used for terrorist attacks elsewhere ??? an apparent acknowledgment of US complaints about militants hiding in north-west Pakistan.b,121b,121The resolution alludes to the US missile attacks, stating that Pakistan "stands united against any incursions and invasions of the homeland, and calls upon the government to deal with it effectively".b,121b,121While saying dialogue "must now be the highest priority," it stipulates that talks should be pursued with those elements willing to follow the constitution and the rule of law.b, 21b, 21Pakistan is in the midst of an economic crisis brought about by high fuel prices, dwindling foreign investment, soaring inflation and militant violence.b,121b, 21The government has formally requested financial help from the International Monetary Fund to avoid a possible loan default, a decision that could cost the administration political support at home.b,121b,121h,121

It may be a matter of degree, but it is nonetheless censorship.

font class="post"1b,121b, 21It is questionable if a school library should stock cartoons or graphic novels, I give you that much but that's a whole other topic.b, 21b,121This is an attempt at religiously motivated censorship.b,121The lady got mad at the suicide theme. Probably not because she's scared that her offspring might at some point have enough of its miserable existence and off itself but pretty sure because suicide in her warped picture of the world is a sin and thatfor should not be made fun of. She'd probably be just as mad at a book called "homo bunnies play in the garden of lust", "drunk bunnies gambling in Vegas" or "Fluffy she-devils: satanic bunnies revealed".b, 21b,121First come the bunnies... ask yourself what might be next on her hate-list?
