b,121vs.b,121b,121b,121Both went proggy with synthesizers galore in the 70s.b,121Both rocked the flamboyant hippie cowboy look.b,121Both incorporated elements of their country's folklore in their music and lyrics.b,121b,121Who's in the house? Belarus or Anatolia?b,121b,121I'm going with Niemen, based on the simple fact that I don't own any Man??o LPs (what I've heard is great, though).b,121And I love Niemen's 70s stuff, especially "Aerolit", "Katharsis" and "Id??e Fixe".

b,121b,121 b,121b,121niemen (al least the records that i know) is way more abstract. dont really feel the comparisson of both. baris manco is nice, but i wouldnt spend the money they go for.

I don't know either of these people's music but damn the first guy looks a lot like my uncle (RIP) and I would rock the second's guy's outfit in a second.

b,121b,121I was under the impression that Manco had some astract stuff too. But again, I'm not that familiar with his catalogue.b,121b,121Bassie, if you want to know how the music of the guy who looks like your uncle sounds like, you should check this clip:b,121b,121 b,121b,121Gorgeous tune, beautiful sax solo (Z. Namyslowski) and lovely vocal backup from the Ali-Babki ladies.b,121And the TV production in this clip is so next level. You'd never see anything this artful on TV today.

  • niemen rocks --- moody loopz for dayz yob,121b,121 b,121b,121 his LP with aerolit is one of the most bugged out 70's synth-prog albums everb,121b,121

  • ah -- you beat me to it, M****n!b,121b,121 didnt know it was the ali-babki lot on backing vocals -- - are any of their albums worth getting?

a shame i cant find any tracks from his katharsis and enigmatic LPs on youtube. those 2 are so much the shi*, way better than most of the eastern prog lps that get praise.

Thanks for that - I'll have to wait to get on a YouTube-friendly machine.

b,121b,121I had this album a while ago, but let it go:b,121b,121b,121b,121Euro pop/beat stuff, perhaps a little too much of the former for my tastes, but some OK tracks, like this one/a1.b,121b,121So, is no one gonna big up Baris?

  • F that.b,121Baris is the man, he's the rugged and Niemen is the pretty.b,121Baris on percussion alone....b,121They are both great but very different, Baris is that sit.

  • M*r*i*, this question is too tough to answer.b,121b,121Musically they are both great, I think it would have to be settled in a big, hairy wrestling match.b,121b,121b,121b,121b,121b,121Honestly I love them both, and that Niemen track is a BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT song. I like most of the LP actually, didn't know they made a video for it!b,121b,121I'll counter with this:b,121b,121object width="425" height="344"1param name="movie" value=""1/param1param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"1/param1embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"1/embed1/object1b,121b,121Be warned: production is not as... elaborate as the Niemen one.

font class="post"1 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hard2.gif" alt="" 21 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/game.gif" alt="" 21b,121b,121I'm not familiar with either of these guys, but that second video is ill. The percussion shreds, and the vocals are bollywood style. The beat on the first video was interesting, a little more intellectual, but overall the music was a lot softer and calmer.

I don't know that much of Niemen's music but I'll ride for Baris all day long. 2023 shreds.

Finally got to see these two clips and going only on that, I'll have to go with Man??o. The Niemen is beautiful, the bassline! but Barış Man??o hits a little closer to home.
