Recommend Me Some Classical Music

My classical LP collection is pretty small and lately I've been more and more into the stuff... For me it's always been kind of an overwhelming genre to get into, if nothing else, due to the sheer volume of recordings/LP's out there. No preference really, just looking for dem mindmelters with nice arrangements. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

  • Bach's Cantatas - Short, Light and Breezyb,121b,121Find anything by the b1Tallis Scholars[/b] - Renaissance sacred music using period instruments and vocal styles (sorry no castratos, realism only goes so far), think roots classical.b,121b,121I have a CD called Mexican Baroque - Off the beaten path, but beautiful.b,121b,121My tastes run more to chamber and choral music. I would have to dig in my collection to find some of my early medieval stuff (mostly on cassette from my poor boy days).b,121b,121Edit: forgot the second "L" in Tallis.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Thanks Non.b,121b,121But you missed the thread I started on Recommend Non-American Music To Me, my post on which artists I have or would have complete catalogs. I believe there are a couple of other music only posts out there I have forgotten the details of. However, your encouragement is the [i]Wind Beneath My Wings/i1 (just not the Bette Milder version).b,121b,121As I have said to Rockadelic in a different thread, I don't front on music I don't know and frankly you all are a bit intimidating on the level you know your shitte. When I bring it, it will be my A game and it will prolly get clowned just like my post here did (and prolly deservedly so).b,121b,121Thanks again.

I'm just busting your balls dude. Music+other stuff=goodb,121Other stuff+no music=not really the point of this siteb,121Saul Goode

  • I hear you. Thanks for caring enough to welcome me to the music side. I have been told that I will get hazed hard here and I hope I will do you all proud.b,121b,121That said I have been kicked in the balls both literally and figuratively enough that its reflex to come back at'cha even if I can't breath. I will eventually figure out the rhythm and mood here and settle in. b,121b,121I am really tryin' to find my way on the music side but the pickins have been slim of late and I spend most of my time lurking on the few music threads trying to get up to speed.b,121b,121I will end my threadjack now and return it to the classics.
