font class="post"1b,121b,121No Muses in my stash, but the only Inner City LP I have is by Otis Blackwell, the R&B singer/songwriter who wrote quite a few of Elvis Presley's hits...it's from 1977, and while Otis himself sounds fine, the band is horrible, throwing in way too many flashy arena-rock riffs behind Blackwell's basic rhythm & blues. Sad shit, this.b,121b,121Anybody familiar with City Lights, which was IC's "rock" subsidiary? Featuring some guy named Graham Moses who was supposed to be somebody's answer to Tom Waits? img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/MJ.gif" alt="" 21

font class="post"1b,121b,121Ya YA! Those Carlos Albums are dope, so are the 2 Dom Um Romao album, and the Buster Williams, Ms. Bu Pleasant, Neal Creaque, etc... If you don't like Muse, you don't like Jazz.

While Muse is not i1entirely[/i] terrible, I've yet to ever file a title... and yes, I've had most of "the good ones".b,121b,121Inner City is just plain sad.

  • night of the mark 7 is good straight ahead.b,121b,121also, what are youze guys thoughts on steeplechase and denon?

  • Am I the only one who likes those Cecil Taylor records?

These labels really combine "Grown Men Know The Deal" with "Get That Noodle Fest Outta My House!"b,121b,121Based on my record store experience they don't sell well and have a really specific buying crowd. They aren't going anywhere fast so listen to them and you may find a little magic you want to keep, then I would lot sell the rest.b,121b,121b,121For what ever reason I have a "Muse" section in my crates so I can give you a quick list of Muse titles I like:b,121b,121Pat Martino - Consciousnessb,121Pat Matrino - Starbrightb,121Eddie Jefferson - Thing Are Getting Better (I think this has a MOP sample)b,121Eddie Jefferson - Still On The Planetb,121Harold Ousley - The Peoples Grooveb,121Mickey Tucker - Mister Mysteriousb,121Mickey Tucker - The Crawlb,121Earl & Carl Gubbs - The Visitors/Neptuneb,121Stever Giordano - Daybreak

yeah i always liked that buster williams too, along with lots of other titles, would definately choose muse over inner city any day.b,121b,121this has a pretty cool track (maybe two..)b,121b,121img src="http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j79/upskiboo/DSC02397.jpg"1b,121b,121and btw last time i checked (which is a long time ago) the solar plexus on inner city sounded good also

  • there's tons of good ones. quite a few have been mentioned.b,121b,121All the mark murphy ones have good tracks, "Stolen Moments" is probably the strongest (with the herbie "sly" cover version.)b,121b,121Cedar Walton ones are all enjoyable b,121b,121Jimmy Heath "Love and Understanding" very good b,121b,121All the catalyst onesb,121b,121Both lps by "the visitors"b,121b,121Louis Hayes "breath of life"b,121b,121All the kenny barron ones "sunset to dawn" "peruvian blue"b,121b,121Walter Bishop "Valley Land"b,121b,121Dave Pike "Time Out Of Mind"b,121b,121love Muse.

About six months ago I was at a basement record sale and just chating it up with some older dudes and one guy tells me all he is looking for is "Inner City" shit. After laughing out loud, he later trys to get me banned from the next sale which I kindly didn't challenge. That record sale sucked ass!!!

font class="post"1b,121b,121There are actually a LOT of MM Muse releases, and some of them are terrible (and I say that as a fan of vocal jazz).

I ride hard for Vic Juris "Road Song". I understand there's a Japanese reissue...
