font class="post"1 b,121b,121Unless the food was flown in from Greece, the food was American, cooked in a Greek style - was it not?b,121b,121Anyway, Greeks - great people, great country (ok, way way too hot in summer) and the world owes a huge cultural debt to them.b,121b,121But we ain't giving the Elgin Marbles back.b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doggie.gif" alt="" /1

They are pretty chilled folk. I mean, they already live on a place most of us dream of going to on holiday. Consequently, they don't have to try too hard because they can already retire in their sunlit island paradise. Where's the incentive to work to death? This information from a standup greek dude I've worked with.b,121b,121Dude was working over here because he could go back a rich man after hella short stints in the UK. Had his ebay game on lock 11 years ago. Pottering around in ex-Mexican army Landcruisers, spear fishing overnight and giving the fish to baller restaurants in exchange for free dinner.b,121b,121We need to hook up with dude for a free holiday...

The stereotype I can't let go of with Greek people is that they all run restaurants. Or all restaurants are run by them. In Chicago, fast food joints are like, all Greek dudes. b,121b,121Seriously though, there's a fast food place in Oak Park where I grew up that's run by this Greek family and it's the hot fire bomb shit. They used to have a 99 cent double cheeseburger BITD and a mean grilled chicken on pita bread. b,121b,121The best shit was that the older brother who ran the place would take the orders and never write shit down. You could order for your whole six-person family and dude would just take it all in and then turn to the cooks/workers and rattle it all off perfectly and then punch it into the register. b,121b,121Dude became an institution. He was the Oak Park equivalent of the Billy Goat Cheezbourgher Cheezbourgher guys.
