Do you think USA is more racist or sexist?

semi-Obama related, got into a discussion with the lady at work, and she thinks Obama will win because she thinks America would be more comfortable with a white male VP than a female VP. b,121b,121Which I then asked her the above question her answer was obviously 'sexist'. Keep in mind that she is white, middle-class and college educated. I couldn't call it because I am neither black/asian/latino nor a female, but I'm leaning towards more racist.

    Seems like we've become more xenophobic than anything especially since 9/11. People from Muslim countries in particular scare the shit out of most Americans.

    The point at which I realized just how sexist a country we live in was when I spent three weeks traveling by myself this summer, and heard repeatedly from female friends, "Wow, that's really cool but I don't think I could ever feel safe doing that."b,121b,121Beyond glass ceilings and voting rights, the immediate physical danger that women face on a daily basis in many places is huge, and yet doesn't even compare to what women go through in many other countries. Some of the stories I heard from a friend who just got back from Ghana are horrifying.

    Taking the Strut as a microcosm/indicative sample of the USA as a whole, the answer would be sexism BY MILES. Then again, we're clearly a more, eh, progressive bunch than the average sample of Americans, so it's not really a very representative sample. Sayin'.
