So, I thought it would be fun to re-visit my picks from before the season, at the start of this thread:
1. Montreal 2. NY Rangers 3. Washington 4. Pittsburgh 5. Philadelphia 6. Boston 7. New Jersey 8. Ottawa
1. Detroit 2. San Jose 3. Calgary 4. Minnesota 5. Anaheim 6. Chicago 7. Edmonton 8. Vancouver
And the standings as of today:
1. y-Boston 73 102 2. * New Jersey 73 97 3. * Washington 75 97 4. Philadelphia 72 90 5. Carolina 75 87 6. Pittsburgh 74 86 7. NY Rangers 74 86 8. Montreal 73 83 9. Florida 73 81 10. Buffalo 72 76 11. Toronto 74 75 12. Ottawa 72 74 13. Atlanta 74 66 14. Tampa Bay 73 64 15. NY Islanders 72 56
1. x-Detroit 74 107 2. y-San Jose 72 106 3. * Calgary 72 90 4. Chicago 71 87 5. Vancouver 72 87 6. Columbus 73 83 7. Edmonton 73 79 8. Anaheim 73 78 9. Nashville 73 78 10. St. Louis 73 77 11. Minnesota 73 76 12. Dallas 73 74 13. Los Angeles 73 70 14. Phoenix 73 67 15. Colorado 73 64
So, I only got one team in each conference in the top 8 that aren't there. Minnesota let me down this year, but they are by no means out of it. What's funny is how in the East I gave my own team, the Bruins, 6th, and my most hated team, Montreal, 1st - and it's blown my greatest hopes out of the water, with us in 1st and them in 8th! Laugh as I will, I still don't want to face the Habs in a 1-8 1st round matchup. I'd rather they just not make the playoffs at all.
You say that after we finally played a fun game?! I had given up. But i still watched what was consistently a Habs comedy of errors.
Either way, playoffs are fun to watch; i'm looking forward to it.
(In other news, Datsyuk continues to be the best player in the league. WHEN all fails, i'll be cheering for the Wings, even with their goalie situation.)
I am pissed at the Bruins. Do you guys know that with how things worked out, if we had beat you in regulation last week you would have missed the playoffs?
The fact that the Bruins allowed the Habs into the playoffs, and actually engineered the matchup themselves scares the shit out of me.
I had a poll on my radio show a week ago asking did people want the Bruins to play the Habs or did the thought scare them. The results were unanimous, everyone wanted the matchup and nobody was scared of the Habs. Except me.
I know the Bruins are the better team right now, and we have played you guys well. But just the thought of having to watch the Bruins playing in Montreal in the playoffs again makes me sick to my stomach. I am going to be a mess for the next week plus.
I am also GOING to Game One! A late Christmas present from a friend!!!
Seeing as how it's an exact reversal of last year, I can ask you: is it easier as a fan to come into this series as the top seed or the bottom? I felt more relaxed last year as the bottom seed, with no pressure, only hope. Expectations are harder to take.
On the western side of things, I'm glad the blues won today so that the wings got columbus in the first round instead of the ducks, who have been on quite the tear. wings have been pretty nagl as of late, especially today. shit. are there even any hockey fans on here from the west? do i have to wait till the wings make it to the finals to talk shit with you dudes?

Nah, dude - Cove says just above that after the Canadiens get eliminated he'll be rooting for the Wings, too. So at least you'll have a fellow fan after the first round
the only 3 active posters in this thread go head 2 head
I been lurking but keeping up with the thread. Work has me on the busi-ness tip.
I can't wait for playoffs to start. Didn't think Montreal was going to make it the way they were falling off, but now a Boston - Montreal series round one! Especially after their last get together.
Pittsburgh - Philadelphia is also gonna be one hell of a series.
In the west, I'm looking forward to the St. Louis - Chicago series. I think that one will be one of the more interesting ones with Chicago making the playoffs for the first time in a LONG time and St. Louis coming from last place to make it in.

Your third jersies are a DISASTER.
PS
sorry about Lang - that's a tough injury, and he's a good player.
they're an absolute disgrace. I thought there was something wrong with the TV when I turned on the game yesterday
hope we get lang back for the playoffs
Michel Terrien fired by the Pens. Seems drastic...
I can't see anybody lasting the whole 3:30, but this definitely funny for a minute.

our schedule was looking good down the stretch but we have proven we are a fractured team
you guys will beat us in the regular and postseason if we manage to hold on to the 8 spot
I had given up. But i still watched what was consistently a Habs comedy of errors.

Man, Markov and Schneider hurt is the worst timing.
Season over. Eck.
what do we have left
nice schedule on those last 2 games
Finally d'agostini is converting and i am pleasantly suprised for schneider
the 3-1 to 3-4 transition was quite something
i'm scared for the 3rd period, but it's gonna be intense.
Yeah I almost threw up.
im not confident, but it'll be good hockey.
you've had a great season but can we bring the luck... but there is still hope for a
or :
ill still be glued to my TV set
haha, did you mean me?

You sound rather emotional about your killer B's.

I hope it goes 7, haha.
Well, if it does, at least it will be in Boston this time.

with our teambeing sold after the season and our injuries and recent plays my expectations are -3
however i want at least a 5 game series
