font class="post"1b,121b,121b,121Detroit since the '95-'96 season. Growing up in Oregon meant having very little exposure to hockey, with the closest teams being Vancouver B.C. and San Jose, CA. I remember watching a few games, trying to get an understanding of the rules and play strategies, before seeing Detroit play, but once I did I was hooked. The Russian 5 is still my all time favorite line, with Konstantinov being my favorite of the bunch. That guy was a monster and so much fun to watch.b,121b,121Seeing them win two consecutive cups in the following years helped cement my status as a fan.
Sorry I haven't been replying... HUGE homework assignment for my grad class last weekend and an exam today...so I have been stressin the last couple weeks.b,121b,121I did get to listen to Hockey Night in Canada while studying this past weekend and Montreal is looking good...especially since you guys got some size now.b,121b,121I was also happy that Detroit was able to finally win at home...though they blew the lead again in the 3rd...and only got the win in OT. Hossa got his 300th though after Datsyuk had to walk the dog on some peeps.b,121b,121I also enjoyed watching Ovechkin straight regulate on Semin a couple days ago in the Washington - Pittsburgh game. I didn't know the dudes had such a feud. They were even saying that they wouldn't play together for Team Russia with all this talk of Yzerman and Team Canada. (Good choice BTW).b,121b,121...and the Penguins...? Without some gritty role player like Malone and Roberts, just don't look like they have the 'umph' this year.b,121b,121Once this mid-term is done I'll be responding more regularily.

Didn't they sign Robitaille, Hull, Hasek in the same year? With Shanahan and Federov as already-established team power-forwards, it was just too many egos on the ice. From what I remember, core players like McCarty, Chelios, Lidstrom, Draper, etc. were just as valuable that year. I was happy to see Hasek with them, but to be honest, I'm happier now with Osgood in the net. And Datsyuk is hands-down the best thing to happen to them this decade.
With just a little more shootout luck/finish, the Bruins wouldb,121be 4-1 right now ... still, I'll take 2-1-2 for a team still gettingb,121it together. They have looked great so far, but tonight it's Buffalob,121for a second game in 2 nights, so I'm not brimming with confidence.b,121b,121Phil Kessel looks like a 50 goal scorer this year!b,121b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jeigh.gif" alt="" 21

font class="post"1b,121b,121Yeah, no shit! As we were in the process of beating (and beating on)b,121Dallas, I was all ready to make a nice bold post using the good oldb,121b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/PFUNK.gif" alt=""1/1b,121b,121graemlin, especially when I saw the score, Islanders beating Habs 4-1b,121late in the 2nd ... if that had stood up we would have been tied in theb,121standings today. Instead I look and see that you guys came back and won!b,121b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/WHYMUSTICRY.gif" alt=""1/1b,121b,121Regardless, I like the way it's shaping up so far to be a fight betweenb,121the Habs and Bruins for the division ... maybe we can beat you in a b,121head-to-head matchup ONCE this season??
Totally possible/likely. b, 21But I just don't see the Bruins winning a 7-game series.b,121Habs have too much firepower. b, 21Plekanec and Higgins scoring (ending droughts) makes us a very scary team. b,121b,121I hate that they don't play until friday. I need another fix.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Yeah, after a bunch of games in a week, we're off until Thursday, andb,121then another few days off after that. b, 21b, 21Nobody's talking about 7-game series yet, my friend. I'm looking forb,121the Bruins to keep taking 2-of-every-3 games and making a run at theb,121division. If you want to talk postseason, I think if the B's could finishb,121higher than the Habs (I'm not counting on it) and had home ice for any playoffb,121series between the two, we might just pull it out. b,121b,121Last night's game was awesome - Ott and Avery were spending the whole nightb,121cheapshotting the B's, including Ott trying to lowbridge a couple of guys,b,121and almost taking out Yelle's knees. The way the Bruins responded, by kickingb,121their asses both with their fists and on the scoreboard, gives me great hopeb,121for this team over the long grind of the next 6 months.
I had the best anniversary celebration with my diehard fan fianc??eb,121b,1214-1 in the 3rd was offputting but then... img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dominoes22.gif" alt=""1/1b,121b,121Higgins and Kovalev's confidence boostedb,121b,121with lang and tanguay keeping up the good play and markov stepping up when he needs to followed by koivu, the bros, laraque's good handlingb,121b,121we are pretty f*cking dangerous and we are having a better run (flow wise) than usualb,121b,121but its just a start...you guys are looking good toob,121b,121our division is much more competitive this time around than those out westb,121b,121waiting till thursday sucks but then again its a pounding on the leafs sob,121b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/happyday.gif" alt=""1/1b,121b,121in ay case i would not be watching hockey this tuesday lets just hope thatb,121b,121the Chicago Bamers pull out a convincing win againt the Arizona Cainsb,121b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/game.gif" alt=""1/1
FIRST PLACE, BATCHES!b, 21b, 21tough week ahead, Chicago on the road, and then Montreal comes to town. b, 21b, 21hopefully we can put them in their place for once, and hold onto first for now.b, 21b, 21b, 21 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yaoming.gif" alt="" 21
Quote:/font1h, 21b, 21/font1Quote:/font1h, 21b, 21b, 21that Kostopoulos hit was disgusting, cheap. b, 21b, 21b, 21h, 21
b, 21b, 21It was neither. It was unfortunate. Unlucky turn at the wrong time, strong forecheck. b, 21b, 21h, 21b, 21b, 21 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/NO.gif" alt="" 21b, 21b, 21put down the Habs kool-aid. the hit was dirty.
You're both coming from very anti-Habs teams, here.b, 21b, 21He deserved to be kicked out, and you probably have to give a suspension, but it wasn't pre-meditated and it wasn't dirty by choice. The result was, however.
the fact is it was not premeditated and bassie i respect you a lot but some leaf hits on us have been far dirtierb, 21b, 21but no beef we are still adapting and playing well
Don't know if you all saw, but Kostopoulos's reaction was like...what could I have done. I believe it was a bit of, Kostopoulos not letting up but also Van Ryn turning his back at the wrong moment. Regardless, this kind of stuff can't be tolerated and the 3-game suspsension with a fine seems pretty legit.b, 21b, 21I know a lot of you guys have played puck growing up and one of the first things you learn is to check your shoulder going into a corner, and never go straight into a corner, both of which Van Ryn did not do.b, 21b, 21Flipped the channel to the Red Wings game to see Derek Meech lay a clean hit on Brian Gionta sending his head into the boards. I guess he got the wind knocked out of him and didn't come back to the game, but I think he's ok. I dunno...pretty scary moments back to back...
blaming the guy getting hit is bullshit, you guys should really stop.b, 21b, 21people said the same crap when Bergeron got knocked out for the seasonb, 21last year by Jones of Philly - it was BS then and it's BS now. If a guyb, 21is in a vulnerable position, you don't finish his head into the boards.

b, 21b, 21I almost brought this one up because of how different (yet similar) it was.b, 21That was a much dirtier hit that didn't even given 3 games if I remember.b, 21b, 21I'm not blaming the guy, but he didn't help himself and it kinda makes Kosty look worse. If a guy like him (K) isn't finishing his checks, he doesn't have a job in this league, nahmean? He knew something bad happened right away; he kinda let himself get attacked right after.
