during the 90s, my favorite 90s movie was:b,121b,121img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00000IC7G.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg"1b,121b,121haven't watched it in ages. now I'd probably pick something by Michael Haneke or Claire Denis.

  • I liked a lot of the movies mentioned in this thread but the only one I find myself revisiting frequently and still enjoying immensely is Goodfellas.b,121b,121Pulp Fiction is 2nd but I'm burned out on it.

I agree that Pulp Fiction is the one movie that will define the 90s. A perfect movie in every way. Outside that I think this movie was equally impressive in scope and what an ending. If you're not sobbing like a bitch when this unfolds then you simply are not a human. A great, great film.b,121b,121img src="http://cover6.cduniverse.com/MuzeVideoArt/Large/31/139131.jpg"1 b,121b,121b,121Others I enjoyed:b,121b,121 img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000305ZXO.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg"1b,121 img src="http://www.facets.org/images/rushmore.jpg"1 b,121 img src="http://aysedune.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/before_sunrise.jpg"1b,121b,121b,121b,121My pic for a totally slept on 90s movie is Gadgo Dilo. Yes, Heat was really good. The DeNiro/Pacino duo is unfadeable, although I heard they didn't get along on the set due to egos. I don't even think they worked too closely on Godfather II, either. I'm going to see the new movie where they star together next week.b,121b,121Pulp Fiction loses its effect after the second viewing and I know that 40+ year old movie lovers turn their noses up at the modern day "homage" to yesteryear film, but it's great for what it was. RD was better, though. It's funny that the restaurant that was held up by the couple was Lancers in Burbank, where my dad took my brother and I every weekend during his errand runs around the time it was released.b,121b,121All those comic booky (sorry, "graphic novel like"), third generation post-apocalypse movies, O.J. trial exploitation, Steven Segal shoot-em-ups and Sandler/Spade/Farley/Shore, etc. flicks in the mid-90s were mindless fun

font class="post"1b,121b,121Leolo was SUCH a good movie. I saw it for the first time 3 years ago with my wife (who was a girlfriend at the time), and we talked about it for days. Beautiful film.b,121b,121After several mentions of "La Haine", I feel like I'm missing out. I've never heard of it before this thread. Time to hit the video store!

I agree with you on his 90's output, including the Ashes of Time comment. Never even finished that one.

  • isnt "in the mood for love" basically "days of being wild" on a bigger budget? i think by the time in the mood for love came out, i found his approach to be kinda formulaic and i wasnt really feeling it liek that. its not that i didnt like it, i just really liked the ones he did on a smaller budget.

This thread made me realize that movies from the 90's are all kinda wack. Even the good ones and the ones Arnold Schwarzenegger made. b,121b,121Well, Trees Lounge was decent.
