I'm concerned that the death toll may be much higher than currently reported. b,121b,121For a minute I started thinking that the damage in my old neck of the woods (Clear Lake/Seabrook) was merely typical flooding. But then I saw a photo of Highway 146 in Seabrook that literally blew my whig back. b,121b,121Picture

http://www.msnbc.com/modules/interactive.aspx?type=ss&launch=26687469/a1,2&pg=17 b,121b,121There are full neighborhoods that separate Galveston Bay from Highway 146 in Seabrook. It's one thing for the flooding to reach Highway 146. It's a whole 'nother thing for there to be so much debris on the highway like that. It suggests that the storm surge really did hit as hard as predicted. b,121b,121And if the storm surge was great enough to push all of that debris in Sabrook the way it did, imagine what it could do to someone huddled up on the first floor of their home.b,121b,121Now apply that to parts of Galveston/Bolivar/other-places-eastward where the storm surge was even stronger/more-direct. b,121b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/WHYMUSTICRY.gif" alt="" 21
