I liked this on the vmas, even watching the youtubes of it I still thought it was cool. The taiko drumming was much better than the crappy drum machines on here. This sounds like a early demo. I think the build ups are good and catchy, but the chorus on this version is strange. This is so bad, sounds amateur.b,121b,1210:23 made me kringe. It reminds me of when I used to be recording vocals in the studio and through auto-tune on for jokes, we thought it was the funniest thing ever. We could have never predicted that people would actually use it like this on records.

I still don't hate this though I suspect that would change as soon as I saw him performing it live. At the moment, as a track in it's own right, it's enjoyably retro and tolerable enough until it starts dominating the radio and clubs.
