If you can't volunteer in a swing state, stepping up your a href="http://donate.barackobama.com" target="_blank"1donation game will help.b,121b,121b,121b,121a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/09/us/politics/09donate.html" target="_blank"1http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/09/us/politics/09donate.htmlb,121b,121"After months of record-breaking fund-raising, a new sense of urgency in Senator Barack Obama???s fund-raising team is palpable as the full weight of the campaign???s decision to bypass public financing for the general election is suddenly upon it...b,121b,121...The signs of concern have become evident in recent weeks as early fund-raising totals have suggested that Mr. Obama???s decision to bypass public financing may not necessarily afford him the commanding financing advantage over Senator John McCain that many had originally predicted."

It's not the money - it's how the money is spent. Here's hoping for an impactful branding effort for the next 2 months.

font class="post"1b,121b,121In some cases this is because the have been "swept" from the voter roles. People please call you relatives to make sure that they are in fact registered to vote right now. Thousands were turned away at the polls in 2004 not realizing they had been shit canned by the GOP.

font class="post"1b,121b,121I think election day should be a national holiday so people don't have work as a reason not to vote. Other nations do this. (Just don't make it a Monday or Friday!)

font class="post"1b,121b,121Well, if you count the early or mail-in voting going on in some states, then it might already be happening in your state. I'd either make Election Day a full weekend or something like an excusable 2-hour long absence from work with the voting stub as your proof (a la jury duty, without the full-day loss of American workforce productivity). But it seems that casting the voting net widely is not in some politicians' best interests. And I've never understood the mentality behind the "felons lose voting rights" law. Frankly, I think that it's targeted disenfranchisement in action, unless someone can come up with a reason to debunk this theory.

Final day to register is different in each state. Check locally. b,121b,121In Oregon, felons can vote as long as they are not in jail on election day.
