font class="post"1b,121b,121I've been thinking about this question. People please add on.b,1211) The presidents first duty is to uphold the constitution. Obama has study and taught the constitution. b,1212) Judgment and skill. He entered law school complete inexperienced in law school, and excelled. He became the editor of the Harvard Law Review completely inexperienced, and excelled. He became a community organizer completely inexperienced, and excelled. He became a state senator completely inexperienced, and excelled. He became a US senator completely inexperienced, and excelled. He became an author completely inexperienced, and excelled. He became a presidential candidate completely inexperienced, and excelled.b,1213) A good understanding of wide ranging policy issues and on the right side of most issues. b,121b,121People, please add on. b,121b,121h,121font class="post"1b,121b,121But will he throw shots with me at the hunting lodge and laugh at my dumb blonde jokes? b,121b,121h,121font class="post"1b,121b,1214) Still shoots hoops on the corner.b,1215) All my favorite artists are in his ipod. b,1216) Calls his daughters sweety.b,1217) Has a beautiful stay at home wife who is smart as a whip.b,1218) He's half White, and no women are on his ticket. Making Obama Biden 100% male and 75% white = %175. McCain Palin's 50% male and %100 white = %150.b,1219) He's trying to kick cigarettes, and we have all been there. b,12110) Looks good in a bathing suit. *b,121b,121b,121b,121b,121b,121b,121b,121*People before you attack me please understand I am playing Odub's shotshuntinglodgedumbblondejoke game.

Quote:/font1h,121b,121The press hasn't already turned against Palin? Did I miss something with all the coverage the last 10 days? She hasn't gotten a free pass on anything!b,121b,121h,121
font class="post"1b,121b,121Hits from the press are accepted and expected in this country until they last long enough to become memes. And to argue that she's being grilled comparably to Obama is not yet true.b,121b,121/font1
Quote:/font1h,121b,121I mean, seriously, why should Obama be qualified for president? I'm not dissing dude but on paper, I'm not really seeing it as anything obvious. I'm voting for him because 1) no fusking way do I want to see the GOP in power another 4 years and 2) I don't think he'll be a bad president, so why the hell not? I like the back story. I like the idea of making history. But I don't think any of those things have to do with "qualifications".b,121b,121h,121
font class="post"1 b,121b,121Well, for one, he's got 10 years of Senatorial experience, whether on the State or National level. He taught constitutional law in one America's finest Universities. He was President of the Harvard Law Review (no small feat) and is one of the finest political speakers and self-starters of our time. If he is, certainly, a bit light on experience (although, for his age, what other criteria could he have amassed by now, short of Biden's entering the Senate when he was 30?), then the afforementioned qualifications, when grouped together, should count for something. Secondly, the man has survived until now in one of the the most watched, most contentious elections - Primaries and General - in the history of this Country. That accounts for some necessary smarts and political maneuvering. This is more like Death Race 2000 than NASCAR, but Obama's hands are as clean as a man's could possibly be at this level of politics.b,121b,121I also believe that he is, policy-wise, currently the best man for the job.b,121b,121And then, you've got a hand-picked Palin who, after all, is a Governor, but of a state that literally lies between North and South Dakota in overall population. She never would have even been on the ballot in the first primary.b,121b,121/font1
Quote:/font1h,121b,121I asked this as a hypothetical before but if Ahnauld could have legally run for president, is there anyone who doesn't believe he would have won? I'm not even saying this cynically. b,121b,121h,121
font class="post"1b,121b,121Oh, no doubt. I'd probably even consider a vote for him against Candidate X, considering his current record. He reminds me - politically, only - of a reverse-intentioned John McCain from 8 years ago; both men reinvented a sussessful past and crossed aisles, but whereas McCain did it to make war as an asshole who stood up for his beliefs/brand, Arnold did it to make peace and surrendered his brand for political pragmatism. Good measures are to be found in both personas. It's a shame that the McCain of 2000 is not close to being the McCain of 2008.

Quote:/font1h,121b,121in effect, mccain didnt really neutralize his "lack of experience" critique of Obama, as much as he forced a comparison between Obama and some backwater VP choice.b,121b,121h,121
font class="post"1b,121b,121Now THAT is a very astute perspective. Huh.

font class="post"1b,121b,121I am with Rock on this one. Olbermann is super lame. I like his partisanship. I wish I liked his style/skills. Dude's righteous indignation is tiring and ineffective. Stewart has the correct approach to these asshole repubs.b,121b,121The irony of all this is that right after McCain's speech, Matthews waxed poetic about how good he did and predicted he would be ahead in the polls leaving the convention. I guess calling the election is not important for a newscaster.b,121 b,121I think we have seen the high water mark of the McCain campaign.

But the way the NYT piece grabs your attention, it's like he's about to go broke or some shit. b,121b,121At least the story might help him fundraise even more.

I'm sure that they got an extra quarter million after the Times story dropped.

  • I donated some today and will probably start to give some more... I'm wondering if I can hit the max amount before election day haha.

I agree that he often comes off as self righteous but he still speaks the truth...at least most of the time.b,121b,121Putting his personality issues aside, I don't understand how dems aren't cheering Olbmeran and Maddow considering they are literally the only 2 broadcasters who echo our POV. b,121b,121MSNBC seems okay with being regarded as the liberal news station, but i think Olberman as a commentator is different than Olberman the anchor, so therefore the station didn't want to get stuck with the FOX type label.
