    damn. great topic and a hard call, but i'd have to go with nina. i can't even really articulate why. just happen to feel a few more of her tunes more.

    I prefer Abbey.

    Why? I just do, I guess. Something about her demeanor I find to be inviting and tough at the same time, where I guess Nina Simone I find to be very intimidating. Vocally, they are really apples and oranges, but again, I find Abbey Lincoln to have a lightness of touch to her voice that I find lacking in much of the Nina I have listened to.

    Like comparing ice cream and cake....why choose? I'll take both thanks.
