I'm not talking about what you've got in your headphones. I work at a place that plays CDs (5-disc changer) for some BG ambiance. The average demographic of people who walk through our door is 40+, white as the whitest rice, and affluent.Heavy rotation has been Miles Davis since I've been there, since someone blessed that place with a few CD burns. I can always get down with that. I pull Norah Jones out of rotation as soon as I walk in the door; Keb Mo' gets a pass because at least I haven't heard that a million times already; someone mentioned bringing in John Mayer, and I will make that one vanish upon sight.I snuck in an AM Gold (go figure) mix that gets hated on regularly. People get mad at it and say they can't handle The Carpenters, even though there's no damn Carpenters on there (although I do ride). They take it out of the rotation, but sometimes I sneak it back in right after.I'm going to put together a disc of moody loops with that boom bap next. Fat Albert Rotunda, Axelrod, Dorothy Ashby, some low rider oldies, jazz that hits, and some sweet soul. Anything too crazy will get vetoed. I probably have to keep it under 100 BPM.I'm looking for suggestions so funky that people don't know they're funky.
