    I don't think it's a ripoff. The UI is similar, but the big selling point of the Tenori-on is the performance and sound engine, while the Monome is just a controller box.

    word, plus the interface seams to be much more intuitive... but who am i to talk. i have used neither.

    My friend has a Monome. The build quality is amazing - one of the most solid-feeling pieces of electronic gear ever. He has written some cool sequencing patches for it.

    My impression is that you have to geek out pretty hard and write your own software if you want to get the most of it. But I dunno, they may have some pre-made templates to download too.
