^^that impulse is #A-1, and its amazing how hard a time i had finding it. anyone else trying to put together a complete impulse set? theres some goofy albums on that label. the O.Henry record is 16RPM!?!
^^ the tractor albums on the left are the new reissues, i gave up pretending i was going to find originals. these are limited to 1000, and sound quite nice. the top right with the insane gatefold cover is jose feliciano. we need giant posters of that image.
^^ choke campbell is really hard to find. somehow i was missing these meters, till now.
^^ sun ra batman at last! last rick james on motown - anyone ever seen this one? i hadnt before. i have a feeling it sold poorly. the essential killer fatback has come to me at last.
^^ i picked these 12s out of a very wack assortment, hoping i had picked the winners. the fearless four sounds the best of the bunch to me. chill groove b is kinda cool too.
Hey, I wanna play! Actually from the past week plus:
And tonnes of 45's - these are the best of the lot:
.. thanks to Dinos the Greek Garage Guru, for handing off the Bob Morrison in the middle of record show 45 table gripfest madness. Sparkletones is my favorite rockabilly 2-sider, and the Lou Courtney shreds.
Sorry for the popsiked pic (no fake finds), can't use a camera right now. Walking into a local shop, I finally laid my eyes on this stupidly raer (supposedly 200 copies pressed) Swedish jazzfunk piece, and of course scooped it up. Have a listen:
here are a couple i found this weekend in seattle.
gladys knight & the pips - claudine (soundtrack) margie joseph - phase ii margie joseph (clean ass promo sticker) new york city - i'm doin' just fine wayne mcghie and the sounds of joy g.c. cameron - love songs and other tragedies gavin ghristopher lovelace watkins - love is
bunny sigler - let it snow the miracles - do it baby cold blood esther philips - from a whisper to a scream joe simon - get down cold blood johnny bristol - hang on in there baby leon bibb - foment, ferment, free...free
leon ware the persuaders - best thing that ever happened to me jon lucien - rashida olympic runners - put the music where your mouth is groove holmes - onsaya joy allen toussaint - motion love, peace, & happiness - here 'tis curtis - roots
Man, why couldn't I find Curtis' Roots while I was in Seattle? In fact, why can't I find that record anywhere?
i got lucky i guess...? i went down to bop street and i saw some kid (one of the employees) going into the owner's backroom with his girlfriend so i asked if i could look around. he told me it was no problem. the owner caught me back there and priced out my finds at ridiculous prices, but left early for the night. the kid however stayed at the counter drinking doucers and reeked of weed so i figured i'd take a gamble and bring my finds to the counter. he gave them to me for dirt! even miscounted and gave me a couple for free.
leroy gibbon - the power of love/version (soul survivor) barbara jones - i can't help it/dub out pt.2 (gg's) frederick knight - let's make a deal/i betcha you don't know that (truth) otis clay - i testify/i'm satisfied (one-derful) earnest jackson - love & happiness/hogwash (stone) otis goodwin - i feel it just a little bit/sometimes (jazz) bobby byrd - back from the dead/the way to get down (international brothers) vibrations - who's gonna help me now/expressway to your heart (neptune) brass rail - do the penguin (buddah) al downing - baby let's talk it over/i'll be holding on (chess) little beaver - party down (cat) swamp dogg - mama's baby, daddy's maybe/sal-a-faster (canyon) candi staton - how can i put out the flame/stand by your man (fame) prince buster - fake king/time longer tthan rope (prince buster) cracked but oh well lou courtney - what do you want me to do/beware (rags) andell & bolivar - woman a general/version (srs) bohannon - bohannon's beat (dakar) the masqueraders - i got it/i ain't got to love nobody else (bell) gloria taylor - you got to pay the price/loving you and being loved by you (silver fox) claude "fats" greene - fats shake'm up (camille) ken lazarus - cecelia/i'll never turn my back on you (steady) yellowman - blueberry hill (kangal) meters - hand clapping song / joog (josie)

Dave the owner of Bop St. is such a douche! I really can't stomach going in there anymore, hundreds of thousands of unsorted unpriced records. And hearing his f#*king stories about why such and such a record commands the price he deems worthy is AGONY. Going when Dave isn't working is the way to go. But like everyone else I've pulled raer for cheap.
It played a little noisier than I expected, it looked hella dusty and not scratched, but the dust was actually hiding some marks. I think a deep clean will help it out. I'm keeping it anyway. At least for the time being, maybe trade it eventually. This record was once hella common in Boston. In a way it still is, if you are going through personal collections.
bridgewater. wayne knows me. i just havent beeen there since like november. he even gave me a COUPLE records last year ('06) for xmas. i need to get back there, but not until i get rid of about 1,00o reccords. i wonder if ive seen you there. youre not the dj from Eastcide, are you?

seriously. the funny part is... dave told the 'kid' before he left that each record i pulled from back there go for nothing less then $50. but after dave left the kid began drinking and smoking, and completely forgot. there were prolly 2-3 people in the store while i was there for a few hours. it took about 10-15 minutes for the kid, now clearly intoxicated, to NOT find a margie joseph and blue magic 45 in the northern soul price book. he soon got fed up and started throwing out prices which i bargined with him about and confused him enough to put all of them in my bag after i told him i only wanted all but two.

(pic is from last weekend, but then who cares..)
I often see that JB 45 described as the "rock version", but I dont quite get it. It's funky as hell.
Yes, I really like "Why" and "Love Is" too, really nice jazzy folk stuff.

I concur, I creeped myself out when I saw my eyes in that. Not bad for a Rayham/Taunton Fleamarket score though! only 10 bucks.
was in the pile of stuff used to make that soul mix:
This record rules. I expected it to be good, but it is superb.
Also, hit up an inner-city flea today on a random mention
of it's existence by a friend. Only bought 2 records, total $1 ...
... this pretty hot salsa LP in VG --- shape (plays great):
Check the track "Africa-a-Go-Go":
... and this one in EXC condition:
After I got back in the truck and looked it over (was wondering
if the right record was even going to be inside), I was like:
nice!!
looks to be in a lot better condition than the one i found last year.
i cant wait till i can go diggin again. its been sooo long!!!
are you serious!!!
youre from the area? nice.
wow, im kinda pissed. those shouldve been mine.
were they from wayne??
