Can anyone break it down for me? SoulStrut sarcasm, brutal commentary and brutal bitterness is completely encouraged, by the way. I missed it due to corporate (the wife) issuing a mandatory dinner date. So, Strutters, please drop some knowledge for me.

Obama was much better on the debating front lastnight. It's always seemed like his weakness to me. But I liked what I saw.
If you are talking about the polls, it's about who may win Texas or Ohio, and in both, Clinton still leads by 1-2 points...problem is she needs to trounce him in double digits to even seem viable at all after March 4. He just needs to stay away from scandal and stupid mistakes and keep doing what he's doing.
Nah, I meant that bar that fluctuates in real time as the debate takes place. I guess it's some focus group that CNN gets and the people are constantly judging what they are hearing in the debate. It suggested that HUllary was the more popular candidate in their focus group....
But god only knows who participated in CNN's focus group:
its a valid point- he didn't lift one line, he pretty much gave the governor's speech verbatim- and obama has said on multiple occasions that he should have given credit for the speech. but...she ruined her argument with the "xerox" line - which was obviously written for her! ha.
that being said - the analysis of the debate has been that she won- but didn't hit it out of the park, except for her final comments. does it really even matter though at this point? someone on the cspan call in show this morning said they were voting for obama because hillary is boring. imo, that pretty much sums up her downfall.
It was, in fact, maybe four lines or so of that "Words?" refrain. It was not at all "the governor's speech verbatim".
The debate is certainly her arena... she is more comfortable here whereas Obama is more comfortable in a stump speech. She sunk herself with the xerox line though; it shows the real problems with her campaign and its lack of clear direction. I don't even think she should have wasted much time with it because it doesn't have much traction and didn't serve her well... but clearly someone thought this was worth using as one of the night's few direct jabs. I thought the last comment was great as far as humanizing her, but I can't believe they thought it was a good idea for her to go out with a statement that could be interpreted as a concession.
One thing that was only mentioned once or twice in the commentary was her body language while NOT speaking - which was poor. She could barely look at Obama, smirked a lot, and appeared disinterested while Obama was speaking - although she was clearly jotting a lot of notes. Obama on the other hand was a lot more interactive with Clinton and appeared more engaged.
Those visual cues tie into the perception of her as haughty, boring, a loner, knows whats best, etc.
Exactly. I don't get it either. They both are talking Health Care because it resonates with people, but what part of her plan(or his for that matter) is going to be so innovative that the Health Insurance lobby is going to roll over and allow their industry to completely change and be subjected to Government intrusion? Health Care reform has failed spectacularly before, it's no cake walk to bring it back to life. Too many people are convinced that it is Communism/Socialism in action, maybe especially those who need it most(elderly, the poorest White folks, etc).
NOW, GET BACK UNDER THE CONGRESS STREET BRIDGE WHERE YOU BELONG!!!
Since KVH has me on ignore, someone repost this so he can eat crow.
oops.
Since KVH has me on ignore, someone repost this so he can eat crow.
Why would she do this??
In other campaign news...
We got room keys!
Yep.....these kinds of "hits" are nothing compared to the "hits" the American people take every day"
I'm gonna go take another "hit".
Reminiscent of the Bushites overpaying/nonbidding their homies.
Just the kind of prez we need to get this country back on its feet financially.
Barack got all the money, all the money...
How the hell is McCain gonna compete with that kinda purse?
i don't have you on ignore. eat crow? she used half of one line from a speech that her husband gave....that has nothing to do with a substantive issue? yea, that is the equivalent of responding to criticism from your opponent on a key issue (experience v. words) by using the exact words and phrases of a speech from another politician without even citing the guy. should i put you on ignore?
If she doesn't credit him she should face SERIOUS BLAME!
It's all pisstake and no one cares in either case, except maybe you. And judging for the crowd/public reaction to her comments, she shouldn't have went there in the first place. Should I also cite how she ended the debate with verbiage from John Edwards?
And if I'm remembering correctly, you conceded to recognizing Obama's efforts, ie., legislative experience in another thread, so why then would you label it a "key issue" here? Flipflopping perhaps?
Fuck the minutia. I'm just sick you pots calling us kettles black. It's classic Rove/Clintonianism, use your enemy's strengths against them. This is why she'll never many people's vote. She comes across as disingenuous.
3000 poasts!
half of one line? she pretty much did the same thing. I don't think she should face serious blame either, but that was a pretty hypocritical thing of her to do.
Although, Clinton definitely stole the limelight from Obama at the end of the debate with her "My problems are nothing compared to the American people's" and "I'm honored to be on this stage with you" spiel that got the standing ovation. Obama wanted to respond but the show was over -- Hillary got the audience up on their feet. It was clever one upsmanship on her part -- she's a lot slicker than him. He looked kind of pissed off when it ended, actually.
what? no, the "just words" argument is why i favor Hillary. his speeches, imo, are deceptive because if anyone was/is the candidate for change on the dem side it was Edwards (or Kucinech and Gravel if you wanna go there). i think the unity message is more appropriate and in that case he definitely practices what he preaches. but - it bugs me that the voice of change is a middle of the road democrat. hillary, to me, is more authentic because she just lays out all of her positions and says - this is who i am. perhaps, if she was as good of a speaker as obama you'd here broader language, but again, i think the whole storm the whitehouse approach is only fitting in comparison to republicans - and not each other. they are essentially running on the same platform...yet he's running against the "clinton machine" and "old washington politics". please.
If I'm Barack here's what I would do....
Approach McCain in a public forum and suggest that both candidates donate ALL their campaign monies to charity, forgo all the millions of dollars of negative campaign ads, and run strictly on platform and performance.
If McCain agrees, then Barack can truly lay claim to being the candidate of change by making one of the biggest changes in U.S. politics in the last 40 years.
If McCain declines then the gloves can come off and Barack can use his money to bury McCain.
That would be great.
Easy now!
I think all of the petty barbs are backfiring in a major way. People are tired of the usual political mudslinging and seeing Barack not succumb to it is only adding to the strength of his campaign.
McCain has been pressuring Obama to commit to public funding, as Obama once said he would. This would eliminate his monetary advantage.
