i mean honestly, is 3:21 of your life too much to spare for dancing
Yea, 3.21 is a lot out of my life if I am compromising myself and my night just to get some people on the floor. People will dance to a lot of other things that I actually like.
would you go as far as to claim German Industrial Coil > MIA?
I would.
As the boy Noz has suggested, if one were to poast a rabbitshare link to some LSD-era German Industrial Coil recordings and proclaim them "Unreleased Dilla Beats, Yo!" at least half these little dudes would fall for it.
I like MIA. She sucks live, but come on - so do a lot of artists. And good beats > good vocals. I don't listen to Check your head for the rapps either. But being around unescapable Swedish indie music all the time has made me immune to off-key vocals. You should hear what we have to put up with on the radio all day long over here...
the 'girls like it'/'it bangs in the club' arguments are funny because whenever someone uses them it becomes immediately clear that they were unfamiliar w/ both girls and clubs prior to hearing the artist in question
in case you aren't aware tiesto is v. popular with both girls and clubs

Only one of the three things you have listed is an appropriate point of comparison; the other two things are genres, not artists.
As to that one thing:

I can't imagine going to any club where this music would be played.
Come on, we all know that reggaeton and banghra are all really just one song repeated over and over again, does that really count as a genre?
And as far as girls dancing to MIA, it's mostly service industry types and the type of girls that hang out with djs (was that redundant?)
Anyways, I am not all riding for her, but really how many people here were upping soulja boy and dropping it at the club 6 months ago, same isht.
I would.

You may be just getting old and disconnected.
My 20 year old daughter works at the local Virgin Music store, goes to all the local clubs, and loves this MIA shit...as do her co-workers.
Your daughter also has some sort of DJ Shadow-themed tattoo; I don't think we would ever have frequented the same clubs.
And I'm thankful.
WOW

FAR TOO REAL FOR HIS OWN GOOD.
fake ID revealed?
Most clubs here let you in at 18 as long as you get a stamp on your hand that means you can't be served alcohol.
Some clubs just don't care and will serve anyone.

At least quote my whole post.
Drinking is the least of my worries.
Some folks here have actually partied WITH my kids.
Except of course the bar you were at that was playing M.I.A. during the ASG.

As long as I'm there...all of them.
