Me and the wife are heading to New York this weekend for Valentine's weekend and to celebrate our respective birthdays. What's good in the City this weekend? Anything poppin' off? Also looking for some restaurant recommendations -- we'd like to try it all... casual to fine dining -- so if there are any foodies on the board, holler!I've heard about this "Momofuku" place - anyone been there? Heard they serve Korean burritos - whatever that is.http://www.momofuku.com/

We're staying in Manhattan but plan to make it out to as many boroughs as we can. I like all types of food. Guess I'd like to get a diverse "taste" of NY.

  • which part of manhattan. uptown, downtown, eastside, westside?

    Midtown Manhattan.

  • As far as romantic goes, you have a million options in the city. Go to chowhound, NY Mag, look at some spots. Reservations are going to be tough to come by this late in the game.

Like we always do about this time: you need to make the trek out to Difaras. That's probably the sole outer-borough experience I would recommend no matter how little time you have.

Unless you have a lot of time to kill I wouldn't stress too much off seeing the entirety of the city, there's no shortage of stuff to get into in Manhattan alone.

    pizza: difara's, patsy's, grimaldi's, totonno's, lombardi's

fine dining: le bernadin, veritas, per se, daniel, gordon ramsay at the london, wd-50 etc...

italian: al di la, del posto, loads more...

mid range: les halles, dovetail, allen & delancey, blue ribbon

japanese: sushi yasuda, tsukushi, ushi wakamaru, lan

ramen: minca, setagaya, santouka, soba totto (well not ramen, soba & yakitori)

you'll find better mexican, chinese & korean in LA.

    momofuku is for the gwailo

difara's raised their slice from $3 to $4, I'd pay double for one right now.

Aser, you've been hanging out with Anthony Bourdain too much. Hook me up with reservations at Le Bernadin or Daniel Boulud's spot.

Is the slice at Difara's that good?

I think you can officially extend that L Train to Johnson now too.

Do not sleep on the "Lomo" at Estacia in tribeca. I would'nt leave Arturo's off of that pizza list either. Infact, I'd dare to say its the best in manhattan. For midtown, if you have the money, Lever House on 53rd b/t Park and Madison is GREAT.

lever house & seagram building across the street are some of the finest examples of international style architecture in the city.

There's a decent pizza truck right by there too, EMPANADAMN reps that.

I personally would avoid any restaurant on Valentine's Day.

Like JP said there's a gang of shit to do here in NYC.
