The Stooges in '69 or '70.

But I'd also give a toe or something to see Can

Those were the first two to spring to mind for me. I want to see the first time Iggy cut himself on stage with a drumstick.

I'd also be down to check out a Dead Boys show.

    jimi hendrix experience.

Jimi used to invite people into the studio to jam, or just hangout and get high. I'd love to have been there.

There's many others. I think all the rest fall into two catagories, 1, beinng there a the birth, or seminal point in musical history. 2. Gigs that just look like one hell of a good time.

Maybe the Parliament-Funkadelic's "P-Funk Earth Tour", would be my pick.

  • The Who Live at Leeds

Also this double bill from May 25, 1969

That ticket stub comes from this guys site. Check it:

    Seriously.

My choice would be the shows the Monks played with Jimi Hendrix in Germany, if we are doing shows.

Otherwise, any Monks show back in Hamburg in '66 would be fine.

    no hate from me.

saw them tour the Bleach Lp here in Toronto at the time. they were Ok, but don't fret too much. Wasn't the best show ever.

My pick.....very hard to pick just one, nay impossible to do.
one person though would have been Charles Brown with the Johnny Moore trio in LA in the late 40's or early 50's.
    some serious cool, mellow sounds.

    Ike and Tina
1950s R&B revues at the Apollo
    The Impressions
    Joy Division
    MC5
    Stooges
    Mahalia Jackson
any clashes that included Dodd, Reid and Prince Buster

I saw Nirvana in a bar post-Bleach, pre-Nevermind. Didn't strike me as much, same as all the other bar bands. Guess I was wrong!

Speaking of, I'd like to go back and see Steven Jesse Bernstein open for Big Black on their final show in Seattle. In the preface of Bernstein's book it is mentioned that Cobain was standing in the front row of that show absorbing everything. Makes perfect sense now.

    THIS IS MUSIC, ASSHOLE![/b]

I'm going to see Joanna Newsom right now?!

  • apparently Beethoven killed it on the keys...that woulda been dope to see.
