Van Der Graaf Generator - Still Life era Scorpions - Tokyo Tapes Virgin Killer era James Brown - 1970 Meters - 1972 MC5 David Bowie - Ziggy era Sly Stone - anytime before 1975 Kate Bush - any one of the handful of dates she ever did
Jimi used to invite people into the studio to jam, or just hangout and get high. I'd love to have been there.
There's many others. I think all the rest fall into two catagories, 1, beinng there a the birth, or seminal point in musical history. 2. Gigs that just look like one hell of a good time.
Maybe the Parliament-Funkadelic's "P-Funk Earth Tour", would be my pick.
Fela Kuti & The Africa 70 @ The Shrine, Kalakuta Republic.
First thing that came to mind when reading the title... would LOVE to see Fela!
my ex-girlfriend's father was in the state department and saw a show at the compound...he said folks were smoking joints the size of tubes of toothpaste...
I JUST WANNA GO BACK 15 years. i'd like to have seen:
NIRVANA.
i mean, yeah, it's be cool to see fela, or jb, or zeppelin, but nirvana actually had an impact and were around in my youth, and when he killed himself i was fuckin DISTRAUGHT!

let the hatt commence.
no hate from me.
saw them tour the Bleach Lp here in Toronto at the time. they were Ok, but don't fret too much. Wasn't the best show ever.
My pick.....very hard to pick just one, nay impossible to do. one person though would have been Charles Brown with the Johnny Moore trio in LA in the late 40's or early 50's. some serious cool, mellow sounds.

I saw Nirvana in a bar post-Bleach, pre-Nevermind. Didn't strike me as much, same as all the other bar bands. Guess I was wrong!
Speaking of, I'd like to go back and see Steven Jesse Bernstein open for Big Black on their final show in Seattle. In the preface of Bernstein's book it is mentioned that Cobain was standing in the front row of that show absorbing everything. Makes perfect sense now.

Seriously.
My choice would be the shows the Monks played with Jimi Hendrix in Germany, if we are doing shows.
Otherwise, any Monks show back in Hamburg in '66 would be fine.
