thats the name of the game......at least for me these days.frikin crab from craigslist threated me with a felony charge for a wanted Ad I posted mentioning the non-profit radio station I work for. Being academically uninclined I could not afford to continue my 3rd year of shows. Later I get annonymous e-mails from the station. they were all personal and cheery on the surface but no signature. sure enough, a f*ckin co-worker, is trying to push me off. Sayin that I have no grounds for diggin since I have no more show.I know now I should just dig. It was my first wanted ad. Mention of the station was a big mistake but this dude created fake e-mail addresses and a fake persona to tool on me for it. then set what i believe was a faceless trap.what the muck....competition, sure, but where is the compassion??

    1. He posted an ad on CL that mentions he's a DJ on a local (college?) station and that he buys records

    2. Someone from the station, maybe a fellow digger/dj where he used to dj at saw the ad and threatened him via email

    3. Others from the station email him

Felony charge? I do not even want to KNOW what you were advertising for on craigslist, dude.

Myself, I had to read it at least 3 times before I concluded I had no idea what is going on here.

this doesn't begin to explain the original post.

felony charges? what the hell does any of that have to do with a dude posting a record want add and getting fake msgs of interest from an anonymous co-worker?

I think because he mentioned he's a dj at a local college station and a record collector or something. That's what I can gather from his fragmented & oblique writing style.

hmmm ... ok, so he was putting "records wanted" ads
on Craig's List and claiming he wanted them for his
radio show, and people from the station were contacting
him saying he shouldn't be using the radio show as a
reference point because he isn't on the air anymore?

I can kinda see that, at least, I know that "I have
a radio show" is a very effective way of shutting down the
paranoia of people who think you are buying their records to
"sell for a thousand dollars on the ebays" ... it works well for
me, and I think even if I didn't have a radio show anymore I might
still say it, although then again I probably wouldn't bother ...

... where does the felony come in?

Or is he talking about this:

Man Sets Station on Fire Over Playlist

    Tuesday, January 29, 2008

    (01-29) 16:10 PST Austin, Texas (AP) --

A volunteer at a community radio station set fire to the station
because he was upset that his song selections for an overnight
Internet broadcast were changed, police said.

Paul Webster Feinstein, 24, has been charged with second-degree
felony arson for the Jan. 5 fire that caused $300,000 damage to the
studios of 91.7 FM KOOP. He faces from two to 20 years in prison and
    a $10,000 fine if convicted.

Feinstein told investigators that he was "very unhappy" about the
changes to his playlist, said Austin Fire Department Battalion Chief
Greg Nye. The songs were intended for an Internet broadcast that
occurs when the station is off the air.

"He had a dream of a career in radio and was very disappointed about
where it had led him," Nye said.

An attorney for Feinstein could not be reached for comment.

Station president Andrew Dickens said Feinstein had been in a dispute
with another volunteer about what kind of music should be put into a
digital library for the Internet program.

Feinstein was a jazz fan and his Internet program was called "Mellow
    Down Easy," Dickens said.

"We knew there was a disagreement, but I would characterize it as a
little clash of personalities over types of music to be played and
not a big blowout," Dickens said.

Feinstein, who had volunteered at the station for about a year, quit
a week before the fire, saying he was going to do other things,
    Dickens said.

"He seemed like somebody who was young, enthusiastic, had a life, was
a professional and was educated," Dickens said.

Nye said Feinstein acknowledged making a copy of the station key and
then waiting for the station to clear out on the night of Jan. 5.
Feinstein poured gasoline on the control panels in two studios to
    start the fire, Nye said.

The fire department's trained dog smelled gasoline at the scene,
tipping investigators to the arson, Nye said.

Nye said Feinstein had no previous criminal record.

The fire was the third the station has dealt with in the past two
years. The first was ruled accidental. The second was caused by a
malfunction in a heating and air-conditioning unit of a nearby
business and forced the station to move.

This month's fire knocked the station off the air for 19 days. It
resumed broadcasting last week in donated space.

"We are kind of worried that people will look at us like a bunch of
idiots," Dickens said. "This is really just one of those out-of-the-
blue situations. Who the hell would have thought somebody would have
    snapped?"

Uh, KOOP is a very popular local radio station in
Austin, TX, partnered with University of Texas.

    Think WFMU but in Texas.

But hey, I hate to get in the way of one-liners.

This thread is almost as good as when I was recently physically threatened and very close to being punched by a crusty old digger for "teasing" him. All I did was ironically bring up the John Travolta classic "Look Who's talking" starring a talking baby and Kirstie Alley when he was describing another old fat crusty digger, lol.

As he was staring me down after whipping off his sunglasses, and fuming, mouth breating into my face (ick), I promptly reminded him that assault is at least a misdemeanor and aggravated assault is a felony.

Oh, I was just using hyperbole. WFMU podcasts are totally necessary. But - as someone who once had a radio show for my local college radio station - I can honestly attest to the fact that not even the station manager was listening.
