I don't think No Woman No cry is even from the 60's though now that I think about it.

Anything off of Legend is from the '70s and '80s, so it would be void from this list anyway.

well Stir it Up is from 60's, but I had already realized that NWNC wasn't.

Either way...just a tad too much Jukebox burn out for me on that one.

• This list needs A LOT more jazz

Joe Henderson - Recordame
Wayne Shorter - Infant Eyes, Deluge, Armageddon, JuJu so many
Herbie Hancock - Oliloqui Valley, Succotash

Of course Miles Davis could easily fill up at least a quarter of that list. So What gimme a break. Every cut from Miles Smiles and ESP belongs on that list.

That was likely a '70s remake on Legend, but the fact is, I agree with you on this here:

I think the "Kind of Blue" LP was technically from 1959. "Love Supreme" by John Coltrane could rate, although it's difficult to dissect great jazz LPs for individual tracks.

Electric Prunes - Holy are you

interesting choice, also brings up another question
.

By the time they made the Release of An Oath LP the Electric Prunes had none of its members from the "I had Too Much To Dream Last Night" era. Essentially it was just an axelrod album.

So if someone wanted to put in both songs would it count as 2 songs from the same group/ people?

Season of the Witch or Hurdy Gurdy Man - Donovan

We all know it's 2 different bands so, fasho 2 different groups.

Sam Cooke - A Change is Gonna Come[color:red]+ 2
I'll add a bunch more votes for this one.

Irma Thomas Ruler Of My Heart[color:red]+ 1/It's Raining[color:red]+ 1/Time Is on My Side[color:red]+ 1
I'll withdraw my nomination of It's Raining and lobby for Ruler Of My Heart or including both ROMH and TIOMS.

Donovan - Season of the Witch[color:red]+ 1/Hurdy Gurdy Man[color:red]+ 1
I'll vote for SOTW

I'd suggest allowing multiple entries per artist. There's no real rationale not to, from what I can see. If we even manage to get this list to 200 (kind of slow going right now), we can always debate the merits of cutting someone's third or fourth entries off it. I'm not about to nominate 10 songs by a single artist but it'd be nice to include, you know, three Beatles tunes or a handful of James Brown songs or Coltrane tracks or...you get the pic.

A few off the top:

Association: Never My Love
Brenton Wood: Gimme a Little Sign
Al Green: Back Up Train
John Coltrane: Alabama
Cream: Sunshine of Your Love

I'm leaning towards Green's I'll Be Good To You off the same album. It's funny but having a quick flick through my collection I noticed that a lot of my favourite music comes from around 70-71 - so close and yet so far.

I guess the obvious choice for Obison would be Crying but I'd like to nominate In Dreams instead.

Um where do you start with the others? Off the very top of my head basically using what I have on my mp3 player right now.

Five Stairsteps - Don't Change Your Love
Love - The Red Telephone
Chambers Brothers - Time Has Come Today
Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band - Express Yourself
Carolyn Franklin - I Don't Want To Lose You
Marva Whitney - It's My Thing
Marlena Shaw - California Soul
