Ron Carter "Where?" (1961)

This is such a great record. One of those albums I didn't knew existed until I found it. Carter plays mostly cello and some bass, and is accompanied by Eric Dolphy on bass clarinet/sax/flute and Mal Waldron to name a couple. I wish the copy I have didn't have the background hiss it does, but I'll take hiss over loud crackling any day... Anyone else dig this one?By the way, my copy is on the Status label, and a popsike search showed a few on New Jazz with the Prestige logo. Which came first?

    new jazz label is original. status label is always second. it is a budget label of prestige and it is mostly reissues of prestige and new jazz titles. there are four records on status that are original to the status label. phil woods shugan, mal waldron the dealers and some other shit. new jazz label and status label almost always hiss. they sound like a toliet flushing. it is the used tires weinstock gound up and used as additive to the vinyl. plus the pressing bubbles are bullshit. once weinstock was done with his tax scam assburn jazz bullshit he went on to make porno movies. i guess that was more stimulating than putting out over 400 jack mcduff records in a 8 year period. this ron carter record is boring. deal with it.

    LOL Thanks for that. Yeah, I've noticed the same hiss on other albums from New Jazz/Prestige from that era. Still like the Carter record though.
