now i like H.O.S.T.Y.L.E. like every other red-blooded American, but why exactly do they deserve more respect then the currently get?
I remember the host of the college radio station I used to listen to in the A struggling with how to identify "F.A.Y.B.A.N."
Uh, and before that we had Screwball with "For All Ya'll"

I thought the PHD material and both SCREWBALL album's were incredible, especially "Y2K"
Beats on that were
C'mon,Premier,Pete Rock,Godfather Don,VIC etc..
I've seen a couple post about "Best Hip-Hop" album's since 2000,and never once was "YK2" mentined, which imo is ridiculous.
It's in my top 5 since 2000..Pretty much every track is crazy on it
yeah um....in the immortal words of ms. jackson:
Yeah umm..What's that have to do with the fact that imo,it's one of the best album's since 2000
NAS makes album's every year, and the last couple have stunk,so what..
But at least he's made album's "Lately"..Who cares when they stink, and most of the beats have been wack..Just because a artist or group hasn't been recording much lately doesn't take away from the album's they have made.
SCREWBALL has a new song out "What's Poppin"..It's nice
yes indeed!
also,
I always though Prince Poetry was underrated.
I know he's respected, but Not on a level like most emcees.
and
Robert Downey Jr.
Kobalt 60
Hi-Jack
Hardnoise
Blade
Mc Mello-D
Updated..
The Nonce(Sach and Yusef R.I.P.)
I loved the mellow, laid back vibe of their World Ultimate LP. One of my favorite west coast rap albums of the era. Great production. RIP Yusef Afloat.
vanilli
ya ya kid k
freedom williams
brand nubian.
They were supposed to do something, but it never happened.
As far ar I know, He just stopped.
Allot of it has to do with Blade(Since he was the one that exposed him and helped him get that one and only 12 he had).
I don't know if it was beef,(which I think is pretty unlikely)But just was never given another chance with that label and from that point on, quit.
Another one to put up is Guttersnypes and Gunshot.
Lord Jamar I though never got credit were credit is due.
one more..
YZ
I mean respect for his raw rap talent relative to other rappers. I think with the dude's flow/rhymes and actual ability to change his style up, combined with voice/charisma and all the rest of it, he's 2nd only to Ghost in the Wu (yes he's better than Gza) and can otherwise hang with the best of the best of rapp.
(and yes I acknowledge that his solo records have been mostly shit.)
Jihad is dope and a nice guy too!
Smegma In D-Minor is a dope track
That and Hostage and the other obvious tracks too
for getting lip-syncing stunt doubles with metal masks to do his shows for him?
that shit is hellafly in and of itself
where you one of the salty ones in the audience? where was this, hampshire college or something?
