Sugar Baby Weet is a crazy rare and crazy good disco rap 12" with female vocals...highly in demand...people are probably pming dakar already...$400 and up record.
local record store has a super mint copy of felt - s/t on nasco for $500. whats good with this record? i see it goes for dollars on ebay but wassup with real world find dealers. does it cost this much? im interested
Flat Earth Society is a great garage/psych LP out of Boston. Intersting cover of "Midnight Hour" and the other stand-out is "Portrait in Gray" i believe. Whole thing is enjoyable.
NB
yeah man i been up on this. just never came across a copy for a reasonable price

you know anything about that felt s/t?
It's not a $500 record. Weird teenage psych outta Tennessee. I found 2 tracks interesting.
It is, as is his cover of the Allman Brothers' 'Dreams'.
i can only speak from the cloudy memories of my teenaged jimi hendrix obsession, but i remember this lp as being really good, and having an awesome gatefold photograph of the band.

That's the one. I'm ashamed to say that I probably have close to a dozen versions of 'Them Changes' in my crates, but it took me this long to get the OG (though he does sing it on 'Band of Gypsys'). I hope he got the dough for all those covers...
more good deal randomness from people who do not normally deal in records..
that Melba Moore is slept on as far as playing out...the version of "25 miles" is heat...great drum break, sounds great loud in a club and the ladies always love to hear female versions of well known soul tunes it seems...
Burning Desire (Charisma Sound) Soul In-Pressions (Aquarius) The Ultimates (Capito, sic) The Main Attraction (Cindy) The Af-Tabs (Five Star)
Others: Preston Love (Hudson) "Cissy Popcorn" Sonny Bricerest (Azetta) little known Black Merda record. Alt. version of "Ashamed of You" Hitchikers (Heart) Best Canadian funk 45 ever? Dennis Lee and the Notables - "Funky Penguin" Vernon Garrett (Watts City) Zakary Thaks (Mercury) Rideout (Hotlicks) "Spend Some Time" Al Tiki Hudson (Mr.) "Cry Baby" Double
And I couldn't find a picture, but I picked up a reggae joint with a cover of Express Yourself. I don't know much about reggae, is this record considered to be pretty good? It's Byron Lee and the Dragonaires "Raggay Splashdown". I just picked it up on the strength of the Express Yourself cover, $5. Haven't had a chance to listen through it all the way yet.
my package i sent to myself from tx. arrived. -- much of it is hpb dollar bin finds as well as another spot that had dollar records.

huntsville rodeo lp is of east tx. state pen. prisoners performing music. it is a combination between 70s boogie rock, country/western and the highlight being a couple of soul groups. pretty weird.

here's some stuff from the last week - some charities, some more plastic wax cheapies and a few french bits of a dead cheap seller:
There's some nice breaksy tracks amongst the cheese tracks on the "50% slow 50% rythme" album. been hoping i'd find the Goodies in a charity and finally did, also found the Shins album in the same charity shop - a nice surprise as the few tracks i'd heard off it were quite nice. just bought the Joe Walsh because i see it everywhere and it was only a quid! haven't really listened to the rest yet...
the 7's are:
DYNASTIE CRISIS - "viva lire/ faust 72" (finally!!) TRASHMEN - "surfin bird" FEVER EXPLORATION - "terpsy" DON FARDON - "follow your drum / get away john" JONATHAN RICHMAN & MODERN LOVERS - "egyptian lovers" (love this 7)
Burning Desire (Charisma Sound) Soul In-Pressions (Aquarius) The Ultimates (Capito, sic) The Main Attraction (Cindy) The Af-Tabs (Five Star)
Others: Preston Love (Hudson) "Cissy Popcorn" Sonny Bricerest (Azetta) little known Black Merda record. Alt. version of "Ashamed of You" Hitchikers (Heart) Best Canadian funk 45 ever? All these in the past two weeks?
I haven't found anything of note in 2008 so far but snagged a copy of this which I'm real excited about:
the Next Plateau was passed to me by Nitekrawler... Salt-N-Pepa - My Mic Sounds Nice. the 45 is Rare Earth - (I Know) I'm Losing You b/w When Joanie Smiles
Comments
Nice finds Dak, half Price dollar bins have been good to me lately...That's pretty much where I found all my finds this week.
I want to hear that Earthen Vessel, does it measure up to the hype?
What's up with that "sugar baby weet" 12"? Boogie?
yeah man i been up on this. just never came across a copy for a reasonable price

I didn't know that existed, does either of those versions have a more mixable intro than the lp?
I knew people were after that, but I wonder if it is balleur $.
Like most of those major label promo only releases, I would guess around $100, give or take. Great find regardless, that track is so good.

Haha! That Georges Delagay has one of my all time favorite feelgood tracks ever. Can't remember the name. The rest of the LP is HORRRRRRID though.
I found one of these about a month ago. Seems like a few have shown up lately. Great 7".
the Next Plateau was passed to me by Nitekrawler... Salt-N-Pepa - My Mic Sounds Nice. the 45 is Rare Earth - (I Know) I'm Losing You b/w When Joanie Smiles
this is a weird-looking record that sucks.
I bought this for the disturbing clown cover knowing it sucked.
i wonder how many people have made this mistake. i bought this 3 years ago.
