    Erotic moods sucks too.

  • absolutely

    turn your love a-rround

  • yeah, that doubling thing he does can be really cool unfortunately he kind of played it out and it became gimmicky a self-parodying.

"world is a ghetto" and "this masquerade" are sort of killing it though. these days it looks as if he has had a face lift and the bebop and hard fusion days are long gone but the man deserves props for sure.

btw he only plays with 3 fingers on his left hand which in itself pretty damn cool considering the fast runs he pulls off.

  • Erotic moods sucks too.

btw, is that really him on that album? sounds nothing like him.

Benson's On Broadway is as essential as Stevie Wonder's Living for the City.

  • Erotic moods sucks too.

yeah for the most part the album is wack. Smokin Chiba Chiba is the only good cut off it.

    George Benson and Jack McDuff

  • I think I like him more as a player in a band rather then as a solo artist. He does have a couple good solo tracks but I've never have really been able to get into his albums.

  • This is a decent record. Not a huge Benson fan but he has some songs i can get down with.

  • hell yes.

I've heard enough people around this city take their shots at him, on a personal level,
but musically, I love this guy. My favorite stuff is probably early quartet stuff, like that Cookbook thing. But absolutely no fronting whatsoever on BREEZIN

it's like I don't even know you people anymore.

  • I'm not ashamed to say this was the very first cd I ever bought with my own money. Long box packaging and everything.

I think the Mizell Bros. had a hand in that too. As well as CTI.

i have the winley comp..its decent..sound quality is kinda shitty though.

  • that vocal version of "Summertime" he did on his debut LP on Columbia[/b] = pre-nosejob immaculate soul

...and don't forget those R&B singles he did for the Vik label in the fifties as a middle-school (I think?) kid!
