help needed: soul/funk parties in NY

hi,friends of mine visiting NY from december 26th to january 1st! they asked me if i know any good venues to hear some good 'ol soul/funk. Matt Weingarden came to my mind first, i asked him but he's out of town then, he gave me some hints on clubs where chances are that they play some decent stuff!can someone help me out here? any planned parties (new yrs eve?) or venues who have a regular night that falls in this period??? many thanks in advance.cheers, rainer

    Wednesday nights at Botanica, and also First Saturdays at APT.

    *Edited: Honestly, although I'm not fully up on everything within the funk and soul scene. it will be damn hard to find something during that stretch. Neither of the 2 things I mentioned are jumping off, right? There might be some little bars here and there that might be doing stuff, but you might want to say "fuck it" and go to The Rub - no self promo-o, yo.
