112 - Pleasure & Pain[/b] synthesized r&b? yes please mindless sex jams? yes please occasional "deep" song? sure, why not
Bobby Valentino - S/T[/b] synthesized r&b? yes please mediocre vocals? no thanks false advertisement on hot luda single? no thanks something to bump when females ride in the car? check
I think I've officially outgrown my underground hip-hop phase.
and checking Bobby Valentino and 112 albums is an improvement?
yes, i've become frustrated with the pretentiousness of underground hip-hop, and thus, have decided to turn to mainstream rap & r&b, which are just as pretentious, but hey, at least they sound like they're having fun...
for real though, i've actually gotten into a rut as far as finding new music that i really, really dig. matter of fact, just finding albums that make me want to listen more than twice is a chore too. i don't know if my tastes are just changing, or if the music that's coming out nowadays is that bad. probably a combination of both.
anyways, diggin' for earlier rap, r&b, soul, funk, jazz, rock, etc. is holdin' me over til i find my shit again.
i did mean that shit about hip hop being too pretentious nowadays though, even though it's really been that way since the beginning.

ALL THE JOINTS ARE FRESH YO. WHAT'S CRAZY IS ME AND MY BOY HEARD THE ALBUM AND DIDN'T KNOW WHO IT WAS AT FIRST. WHEN WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS THE AVILA BROVAS, MY BOY BUGGED OUT, CAUSE THE AVILA BROVAS ARE FROM THE 909 AND THEY WE'RE ALL HIGH SCHOOL HOMIES. NOW THEY BLOWIN UP. GOTTA SUPPORT THE LOCALS YALL.
As far as hip-hop goes, it's gotta be the B.Sigel album.
My Philly-regional bias is usually in full effect, but that YGs album stinks. I'm getting the feeling that Jay-Z is kind've an idiot as a CEO. What's up with the fucking Swizz Beats overload?
I haven't checked for Bobby Valentino's album or anything but his singles are kinda hot. The jernt with Lil' Wayne is my jawnyjawn.
Gang Gang Dance - God's Money[/b] The second track on the album is killer. There's some middle-eastern sounding vocals that has a chill rhythm in the background that turns into a freakout dance.
V/A - By the Fruits You Shall Know the Roots[/b] Free-folk comp. Yah, the whole revival thing is in full force. This is quite nice though. Most of these songs are 20+ minutes long on 3xLP. Too bad I can't find a copy that doesn't go for $60 dollars.
V/A - DJ Target Presents Aim High Vol.2[/b] I'm not sure if a lot of you listen to grime, but this is pretty solid.
Edan - Beauty and the Beat[/b] Needs no explaination.

Paging Ross. Where can I cop this?
can't forget that!
Hells yeah. Heavy rotation. Zone is sick. I can listen to that shit for hours and trip over all the little details he laces his tracks with.
Jamie Lidell "Multiply" is my contender for best LP in 2005 so far.
And I can't wait to hear the Jamie Lidell. If his record is anything like his live show - I might have to agree with best LP so far declaration.

that album sounds like one same-sounding song. cosign on the YG's.. solid 3 tracker.
