Damn son. Jonny Gill, Braxton, Jazzyfatnastees, Destiny's Child??? wtf. All the others are the hot fiyah. I would put TTT "House of Music" in there and "Vooduu" as well.
destiny's child record is good. good call on faith evans. yr rong about TLC. loose ends is cool but i like their pre-new jack swing 80s stuff a lot more. im feeling most of eds picks but i've never heard the johnny gill. How can u pick bachelor over 100% tho???
I don't know anyone under 40 who listens to Johnny Gill. Is that the album with "My My My"?
yep that's it ....lol
and i'd take Destiny's child over all that TLC bullshit all day
Writing's On The Wall is a quality album, no mention of Kaleidoscope yet?
I am disappointed by the lack of love shown for TLC - admittedly their albums were generally inconsistent but there are a lot of quality tracks on Crazy Sexy Cool. I will ride for this.
On a side note, it's always interesting to see the love across the Atlantic for Sade who is still sadly filed away in the eighties cheese category for most people in the UK.
100 % had better songs (so anxious, same ole g...) but Bachelor was a much better listen start to finish...Bachelor was also a new sound in R&B at the time (see Timbaland) ...

Johnny Gill's album is very good but isnt as good as Braxtons debut.
This isnt in order right. Maxwell should be higher than Faith who just a poormans Mary.

As I posted earlier...I knew somebody would try...
I cant wait to hear how your going to explain that this is NOT rhythm and blues ?
If anything the majority of artists mentioned are more like singers over hip hop beats.
the 90s were flooded with a lot of garbage...everybody was jacking hip hop beats and singing over them. then came the reggae boot 12"s. "rap and buuuulllllshit"

Love Deluxe is R&B and many other things. Im a Diehard Sade Fan/collector and Id have to refute the idea that Love Deluxe is even in the top 10 of a greatest 90's R&B thread. Stuart Matthewman moved on to produce Maxwell's joint which is better IMO than LD.

I've never heard this either. I checked it out on Amazon and I still didn't really recognize it. I guess this one flew over my head.
On a side note, doesn't the dude on the cover look like Cole from Martin.
im sure somebody will try to tell me its not r&b...
your right its not "rap & bullshit"
classic no doubt...but, sorry mary. besides isnt she the queen of "hip hop soul" ?
had this been 80s...guy would be it. then bobby, then keith sweat.

House of Music didn't do much for me....
Voodoo probably should be in there... but i was listening to it about a month ago and it sounded like shit...
The Loose Ends is cool.. but it was a year behind when it came out ...sounded like fake Soul II Soul
It hella sounds like a fake soul to soul. I don't know anyone under 40 who listens to Johnny Gill. Is that the album with "My My My"?

Is Sade even human? She's on some whole other level that I need to get to.
Haven't heard that Loose Ends album, but I'm all over their 80's mod-soul stuff. Just up'd this dub on my bloggy...
