  • Seemed to last a good 20 seconds or so here (Berkeley). I'm sitting in an 1870s three-story Victorian but luckily the owner replaced the original foundation last spring.

See, this is what is tripping me out. It lasted literally one second here in Santa Cruz, which is geographically closer, but family/friends in Berkeley are calling me telling me that it shook for quite awhile. I don't understand earthquakes.

  • I would guess that whatever fault line it was runs from San Jose up to Berkeley and not to Santa Cruz. Just a guess though.

Not at my house...it shook for 10-15 secs. Not too bad but I am getting a grab-and-run crate together.

Hm. Maybe it's just my house. Good sign if a big one strikes, I guess.

I can't even imagine how ridiculous your grab-n-run crate is dude.

  • yeah...that shit was fun! I personally only don't dig one type of earthquake...and it wasn't the one we felt last night...

I felt it right away...was with the owner of the building and a guy who redid one of the bathrooms for us...and nobody else felt it....

it was long enough that I told them "do you feel the earthquake right now?" then walk across the hall to my apt...get out my keys...unlock the door...go inside...and my girl was trippin! told her to get in the doorway...and then a second or two later...it stopped...

yeah, I've been through a lot of the big ones here...I like the ones that sway, or wave...like we felt last night...the scary shit...is when all of the sudden the earth drops like 6 feet...sudden jolt...those are the bad ones...
