ok, its me on drums, my best friend on guitar, his girlfriend on vocals and our other friend on synth...the whole point of the band was basically to force ourselves to do something regularly once a week, and to have a band with enough of a gimmick that people would enjoy it even if we didnt try very hard..hahahaso my friends girlfriend: (IMG src=http://photos-715.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v120/20/31/14820715/n14820715_36149686_2455.jpg>) wrote this song, melody and lyrics, its in chinese and i dont know what shes saying. its kinda cute, i dont know. really weird because she doesnt listen to music ever, yet wrote this song. my friend just wants her to spazz out and go crazy on stage and be all fun and sexy and shit. shes into that. dont expect much, but lets see some feedback. hahahttp://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="335" height="28" id="divaudio2">http://www.divshare.com/flash/audio?myId=2509763-d91" />http://www.divshare.com/flash/audio?myId=2509763-d91" width="335" height="28" name="divaudio2" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">apologies for the recording. i like how the drums sound but it was recorded on my friends laptop with the built-in mic so it could sound better. plus everybodys playing pretty sloppy.

I could almost picture the white backdrop for the video, with you guys wearing neon colored-tshirts or something. It would sell in Japan.

haha, its not MY band, im just in it. dont worry. this is only my focus for about an hour and a half every tuesday night.

  • The beginning with the drums and guitar was ok, but otherwise it really wasn't my thing.

this is good. this is the kind of response i want, we are going for this vibe. we figure people will think its kinda cutesy and worth paying to see. thanks

    serious.

dude you kick ass on drums...fuck. The song is kind of cool. I bet it sounds better live. I'm so gonna sample you.... just kidding

BUT DUDE, you're obviously the only one who knows how to play their instrument well in this band, I understand it's fun to jam with friends and stuff but wouldn't you want to start a band that YOU actually like and write songs for. I know it's only for an hour every tuesday but isn't there dudes in your small town you can play crazy shit with, I'd love to see you play drums and arrange songs in like a more soul influenced band.

i have plenty of things i plan on starting to record once my apartment is cleaned. live shit. live instruments, but all me playing. not enough people around here would really mesh well with what i want to do musically. once i get serious about recording i'll post some of my solo live stuff. youll dig it.

that would be great. I think I understand what it can be like coming from a small town myself.

yep. handful of people in this town who would really dig what i'd want to do, and they probably dont play instruments. i never really liked any of the 5 or 6 bands ive been in that much, but seems like whenever theyre done, people are always saying how i was the person that really "made" the band, since im usually in more straight rock bands (not this one) and tend to bring more flavor to the drum parts than a typical rock drummer would.

i like being in bands with friends, and pretty much none of my friends share my music taste.

same here, most of my friends are in bands that are mostly rock or whatever, I was lucky enough to go to uni and meet a whole bunch of jazz players but even then, a lot of those guys are so sheltered whithin the jazz community, I swear I have more fun meeting DJ's or producers, playing records together than I do jamming with real musicians, most of the time anyway.

yep. not to say a dream situation where i met up with a bunch of guys who really got what i liked and wanted to jam wouldnt be ideal...its just not happening here. showing off records to fellow diggers in town is more fun for now.

i play drums solo on the street corner most fridays to make extra money. THAT is fun.

showing off to diggers in town, playing drums on the street corner. sounds lke the wild west. maybe your town is even more isolated than mine.

  • I would totally come and hear this. I think its cute as fuck. I love thats it sloppy - your amazing drumming give is it a spine and some structure.

It sounds like YOU GUYS are having fun and I think thats really hard to ignore from a live music perspective. It's infectious.

  • What??s the synth? I kinda like it, but I??d like to hear a better recording.

(will remix electro-style for cash and signed copies of "Chicago" )

    - J

  • Sounds fun..I can get with that. What's the band name? Anymore clips to play?

nothing further, we are working on songs the keyboard player wrote but we have some issues with them...theyre good but kinda slow and creepy as opposed to cute and upbeat. if we finish more songs on tuesday, i'll post them here.

the band is nameless...me and my friend originally started a band sans his gf and the keyboard dude that i called "Star Bunch"..that seems like the strongest candidate for a permanent name so far. i also suggested KRZR Crane.

the synth is just a microkorg. they wanna use my SH-09 but its in such good shape i dont really wanna transport it too much. we dont practice at my place.

  • my friends girlfriend:(

i kinda like it. it's accessible and has potential once the band tightens up.

    This track is THE HAMMER!

Seriously though, I kinda dig it. Real punchy, immediate sonics on the snares and hats.

  • haha, really? my bad. i thought you were hinting that you're into her.

does garage band have automatic compression? this was recorded on my friends laptop straight into the built-in mic...surprised how decent it sounds compartively.

  • If you pressed this up on wax, several Strutters would buy it for the BRAEKZ. Drums are great.

  • Id be FIRST in line! Trust that!

Sounds like this'd be fun to play live. It's a sound many people would like to hear. It will also come across live so much better than your average rock band.

The drums are the best part!

I like it! reminds me of cub from vancouver

You guys should cover "satan sucks" or "little star" by them.

Ako, first off, I am a fan of your production: thoughtful, soulful and skillfully executed. That is why I don't understand this project because it seems that this "gimmickey" band is none of those things. And your boring but cute singer is a gimmick with limited shelf life. So I'm confused. Maybe I don't get this type of music; it's not my cup of tea. It boils down to this for me: Would you buy it or are you doing something for the sake of doing something? Maybe I'm too serious. Please give me insight why you are doing this project.

Sorry to sound all harsh, but I feel that being honest is more important than saying "Whoo hoo" for no reason.
