Teaching English Abroad

I'm thinking about teaching in Costa Rica. I went down there a couple of months ago and I'm really considering a move. Does anyone have any experiences teaching abroad there or elsewhere for that matter? What was your experience like?Does it matter much to employers if I get a TEFL certificate online or through a school?Thanks

    I know nothing about teaching abroad, but I do have some friends who are currently teaching abroad.


    Also, where in Costa Rica? My Family's got land down there and is developing it as we speak....

    Yes. I just learned the hard way that a TEFL certificate gained online doesn't carry as much weight with reputable employers as a TEFL/TOESL degree earned in a physical classroom.

    Thinking about Heredia. Land is supposedly pretty cheap down there. I wouldn't mind buying some property myself in the near future.

    your best bet is to take the CELTA, it will enable you to work worldwide in the better schools. online degrees are

    most esl schools are run by unscrupulous people with very low standards, be careful.
