Noted. A bad PR move for the Apple.

  • I'm not a super nerd or anything, and my horsehit phone is ancient.

But, how is this such a bad look for apple? they have an exclusive contract with AT&T, and they are trying to protect their interests and product from hackers.

I can understand how it isn't 'cool,' per se, but it just seems like a company looking out for number 1.

  • But, how is this such a bad look for apple?

Supposedly, the update is shutting down some untampered phones as well.

    BETA users get the bozak!!!!

"and you too can be the coolest kid on your block with a $500 phone that doesn't work"

    no thank you sir.

I saw that in the article, and that is MOST CERTAINLY a bad look...but, it is a different problem than the one that motivated the start of this thread?

I'm not a marketing genius or anything but it's a bad look because they're fucking over their own customers. AT&T is the only company winning in that situation.

I've NEVER heard of a company deliberately bricking an unlocked phone before and I've been buying unlocked phones from overseas for YEARS.

I wouldn't be surprised if AT&T is forcing Apple to make a move like this. They clearly have the upper hand in this situation, via an exclusive carrier contract.

I dont know why fools trip over the iPhone. There have been way better phones out for a minute. Like the HTC phones. They do everything the iPhone does functionality wise, theyre easy to hack, they run windows mobile, theres tons of software out for them, they use GPRS and have GPS with maps, MMS, touch screen and more ish.

Theyve been out for over 3 years! Keep sleeping and paying way too much for your iphones.

i had no problems updating mine and it was jailbroken (as the cool kids say). i just reformated it, and did a fresh install of the firmware.

with every new gadget comes weird firmware bugs that are fixable. only difference with iphone is that when it debuted, it was:

i still love the fone (esp the new update). unforunately not everyone who has it is savvy enough to fix it on their own ie google iphone update 1.1.1 troubleshoot

*drewn, sorry the pix is so big

  • I would really like to know from those who DID update to 1.1.1..

How much louder is your earpiece and speakerphone?

This has been my main complaint since day one and I'm curious if it's a big difference. Is your volume still always set to max or is it better now? If so...how much better? Can you hear the person in an environment with a lot of background noise?

Please tell me it's a LOT better not just a little.
