Alex Jones/Infowars

One of the great things about living in Austin is it's where the radical political rabble rouser Alex Jones is based. I started watching him on Access Television back during the mid-90's, and for the first time in a long while I caught his show on Access Television last night. It literally floored me.It's apparently been awhile since I've heard a television personality/broadcaster talking about current affairs with real conviction. For instance, when Jones was addressing the Iran situation and the way that the US military complex so eagerly promotes conflict between rival countries in order to sell arms, all too often nuclear, to both sides was real deal raw and then some. Maybe some of y'all are already familiar with Alex Jones and his website at www.infowars.com He's the dude who years ago snuck into Bohemian Grove and filmed the owl ceremony. In many ways, I see him as Bill Hicks reincarnated as an ever-angry activist. And if you're familiar with Hicks putting so much energy into covering and commenting on the Branch Davidian massacre, you'll better understand what I'm talking about. Some of y'all might remember when I had the following photo as my avatar. It's a still of Alex Jones lifted from the Richard Linklater film Waking Life...Here Jones is in real life...Within a political climate that can barely stomach the extremities of Ron Paul, Alex Jones takes "real talk" to new and completely necessary levels. When he informs us that the levels of depleted uranium in not just Iraqi air, but also in the air here in the states, have reached ridiculously dangerous heights...he puts the exact anger that fits the scenario behind his message. With so many laughing themselves through the violent repression of free speech that happened at the UNiversity of Florida the other day, I'm glad that there is at least someone out there with the nuts to counter this totalitarian madness.

How in the world do you know ahead of time of information being declassified whether or not its true?

Besides, Alex Jones I wouldn't really call a "conspiracy theorist" in that he primarily deals with information already published by the mainstream press.

Is it a "theory" that depleted uranium levels are rising? Is it a "theory" that US companies are selling arms to both sides of the conflict between India and Pakistan? Is it a "theory" that Cheney and company are planning to invade Iraq?

So now you are faulting people for "wanting to believe" what the mainstream press reports?

You don't trust "conspiracy theorists". You apparently don't trust the mainstream press.

Who's information do you trust enough to pompously know that you are so absolutely right all of the time?

Born again Christian??? Not sure where you're getting that. Jones is fairly critical of any religious shade of fanaticism.

And a poptart kook doesn't for years land himself a show on Austin's premiere news radio station KLBJ. In other words, there's a mainstream legitimacy to his approach that y'all are definitely overlooking.

And lots of people are against Israeli policies without issues of race having a shred to do with it.

get my name out of your mouth you piece of shit I am not engaging in this inane argument so don't drag me into it. if you can't argue successfully against harv-chaic without using me as a strawman/point of bullshit consensus between you two than you have serious problems.

I like Alex Jones. I don't always agree with everything he has to say but I give him credit for staying true to what he believes. Back when I first moved to Austin in the early 90's and saw him on public access I thought he was a total fucking nutjob, but as time went on he started using other people's articles to back up what he was saying. He pulls out those buried articles from the mainstream media to drive his point and tells anyone that doesn't believe what he is saying to actually go read up for themselves and get informed. After many years he has an army of "info-warriors" spreading a lot of info. I also like the fact that he allows anyone to copy his DVDs and redistribute them. His documentaries have gotten much better over the years. I'm not completely sold on him proving 9/11 was an inside job with Terrorstorm but it did give a good history of False Flag operations.

and on that note im slowly backing out of this thread.
    its about to get funny.

Alex Jones isn't anti-immigrant, he just wants immigrants to come into the country legally.

What did the kid do wrong again to have the cops initially lay their hands on him?

It's not so much that as... dog you KNOW there is way more important schitt, more UNJUST schitt happening than a college bro getting tased by campus police.

I don't see what the issue is - the cat got unruly, police tried to escort him out, he tried to make a scene, he got his ass kicked. A lot of folks get the same treatment for a hell of a lot less. I can't really feel too upset about it personally.

The issue is that he hadn't done anything unruly UNTIL the police tried to escort him out for no good reason.

  • I actually disagree with that - to use your terminology, he had already gotten "please pass the mic'd". That is when he started to make a scene.

For what? Speaking nervously loud? All he did was bring up a book that Kerrey quickly mentioned he had already read and then asked Kerrey why he was so quick to concede the election with so many voter fraud issues still outstanding.

So basically he got please-pass-the-mic'd in a forum that doesn't share that check and balance for asking an extremely pertinent question that the speaker was openly willing to answer???

And then he got tasered for not completely submitting to cops who failed to inform him why he was being placed under arrest.

Look at the full clip and you see that the fat cop had his taser out way early and really, the dude was not a threat in the least.

Have you read anything about before they pulled him? Why the cops were watching him?

Look I am not really into arguing about this because it is silly but the reason for why he got PPTM'd is not relevant. Do they have to explain their reasoning at Project Blowed too? Does a wack MC get a hearing when asked to leave the stage? He was up there for one minute, he wouldn't stop speaking or sit down, so his mic got cut. Then he started making a scene, the cops restrained him, he fought back, and he got his ass kicked. Everyday shit.

I don't care why they were watching him. Up to the point that they placed their hands on him without explicitly placing him under arrest, he had done nothing remotely illegal nor even anything outside the expected realms of a question/answer session.

    * djdissent's diary :: ::

"I was at the Kerry speech today, sitting 2 rows away from all the action. I'll let you know how it really went down.

The forum was going to be over at 2 pm, and Kerry spoke for so long that the Q and A portion had to be shortened. He only got through about 7 of the 50 people who were waiting to ask questions. While the final question was being read, some douchebag ran down the aisle, grabbed the mic from the other side of the room, interrupted the kid who was talking, and started yelling at Kerry, demanding that his questions be heard. He started ranting about how Kerry talks in circles or something, and everyone was getting annoyed. The cops are all over him in no time and try to escort him out, but he starts yelling and resisting. Kerry insists that they let him stay and even agrees to answer his question.

After the interrupted guy's question was answered, Kerry keeps his promise and lets the angry guy talk. This is the point where people started taking their cameras and phones out. All the videos floating around youtube start around here.[/b] You can see in the videos that his questioning gets kind of inappropriate, so somebody cut his mic. Instead of shutting up, he starts yelling and making an even bigger scene. He struggled all the way up the aisle, and started violently trying to free himself. They threatened to taze him and he wouldnt stop fighting, so he got tazed. They only had to arrest him because he was causing a disruption and wouldn't leave peacefully. He wasn't being silenced for asking tough questions, trust me.

It's a shame that they had to taze the guy, but he had a chance to calm down and didn't take it. He probably didn't pose a physical threat to anybody in the room, but someone can't just hijack the floor of a forum like that and expect not to get kicked out. This wasn't some poor guy who was brutalized for trying to ask some tough questions. He's just an obnoxious guy who had a fit when there wasn't time for his questions and refused to be calm even when he was given the chance to speak. He was looking for trouble, and everyone applauded when he was forced to leave.

Nothing pisses me off more than hearing stories about power tripping cops abusing their power, unnecessarily tazing or arresting people, etc. It's a huge problem and I'm glad it's being discussed. Just don't mistake this for one of those cases"
