Haha, I wouldn't hate on anyone for liking IBB. But I do only buy records with funky jazz versions of Rolling Stones songs and shit for radio use ... the day I drop the radio show, there will be a FONKAY JAZZ SET SALE TO END ALL SET SALES
I'm hoping the bubble will burst,like baseball cards, comic books, and Japan's economy. The prices are getting out of control. Sites like Popsike, once a valuable tool, are now making everybody an "expert" on pricing and grading. And what the hell is up with that seller from France called RECSIM, everything is 200.00 or more! They are on Musicstack and Gemm and their prices are screwing up business. I have to explain to private sellers that RECSIM prices are fraudulent. They roll up to me thinking that they are gonna score some major loot for their records only to find out that they have a 10.00 piece at best. It's almost like RECSIM is trying to f**k it up for everyone!
This is true. People who had this record chopped the hell out of it. But it was also a cutout bin classic, with sealed stock piled high for 2 decades. There's just too many copies out there to justify that price.

even rock guys are asking for that but in the same second would just ignore skull snaps for example!
And to speak for me it was hard and is even harder now to track down an European version in good condition - i payed about 50 euros for an unplayed white label and was glad as well as it took me about 10 years to get together 4 copies.
The second album is even harder - many people still don??t know about the existence of that.

I've been able to sell VGish copies for $40-50 no problem, people feel they are getting a steal. It is damn hard to find clean. I kind of reject the idea that this "used to be" a $30-40 record, perhaps in the beginnings of ebay or in some shop out of town somewheres but in NYC this has been a money record since I moved here in 1995, for greater or lesser sums depending on the seller but still. The cutout bin copies have BEEN long gone and I don't know too many on this board who were even hip to it back then so is that even really an argument?

You have to take into consideration that Atomic Records has a pretty loyal fanbase on ebay when it comes to jazz or soul records. Take a look at some of thier completed auctions. I'm just sad they save all their best stuff for ebay, their "real life" store used to be pretty sick.

I wasn't implying that there are still piles of them around (although I bet somebody does still have sealed stock), just that any record that was piled up for 15 years with thousands of unsold copies can't be seen as THAT rare ... of course, the people-who-owned-it-thrashed-it factor and the fact that it's not a record people get rid of once they find a copy does help keep the numbers for sale down. But, as much as I respect NYC as the center of the universe, I don't think it's fair to say that because a record sold for $100 in NYC 10 years ago, that means it was a "$100 record" ... I was seeing this around, sealed, in the 80's and 90's for $50 and less all the time ... I was just too cheap back then to spend more than $15 on any record and believed I would eventually find everything for $1 at a flea market somewhere ...

With all due respect, that's all kind of irrelevant; the record has been selling of upwards $100 for the last 10 years (and not just in NYC). If you are aware of a place in the greater northeast that still has $50 sealed copies, or is willing to deal out some quantity wholesale, you can feel free to PM me the information.

dont forget Kiss fans...Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley sing on it, and it came out a year before the first Kiss LP...so you can imagine the number of Kiss freaks after it also
