  • well, damn... where's the "War > Mandrill" logic in THIS thread??? i sware, i will never understand you soulstrut poeple

Martha & The Vandellas had better SONGS man!

damn, you be sittin by the mousepad WAITIN' for me to poast, don'tcha? lolol

  • Martha & The Vandellas had better SONGS man!

The Supremes is one of America's greatest recording groups. You rep for That Kufi Schitt but that is not what matters to people and you must deal.

  • War had better songs than Mandrill
Martha/Vandellas had better songs than The Supremes

I don't see what is the problem here

i don't either, but i'd like to turn it into a problem just to see what happens (just like i did in that other thread)

MARTHA & THE VANDELLAS' GREATEST HITS:
"(Love is Like a) Heat Wave"
    "Dancing in the Street"
    "Nowhere to Run"
    "Quicksand"
    "Jimmy Mack"

    THE SUPREMES' GREATEST HITS:
"Stop! In the Name of Love"
    "Back in My Arms Again"
    "Come See About Me"
    "Where Did Our Love Go"
    "Baby Love"
    "You Keep Me Hangin' On"
    "You Can't Hurry Love"
    "Reflections"
"Love Is Here and Now You're Gone"
    "Someday We'll Be Together"
    "Love Child"
    "I Hear a Symphony"
"My World Is Empty Without You"
    "The Happening"
"I'm Gonna Make You Love Me"
    "Stoned Love"
"Up the Ladder to the Roof"

i mean, are we even being serious here??? are you guys for REAL with this schitt? i don't know what the fuck y'all been huffin' or puffin' but no thanks

  • i'm not talking about hits, i'm talking about preference. and quicksand

which i see this thread turning into RIGHT ABOUT NOW

    i'm talking about preference.

    Private Mind Garden Selects....

  • You know that other thread wouldn't have been such a hot mess if people had just said, "that may be true but I prefer _________".

When you mentioned it, I googled up all the hits the Supremes had, and I'll definitely say that they win the "memorable songs" award.

I prefer the sound of the Vandellas though.

yeah, but see, edith, in the WAR > MANDRILL thread it was ALLLLLLLLLLL about the hits that War had. Now all of a sudden it's something different? Not talking about you but people like Kufi Paycheck and his minions... why it's different with THIS battle than it was with the OTHER battle? I'm just sayin'... at least be consistent with your flawed logic

I guess around Mt Saint Michel in Normandy they got lots of quicksand, so it's not just a tropical phenomenon like they show in the movies.

Of course, if Martha Reeves had been fuckin' Berry Gordy, they might have had first call on some of those songs, but it's been fairly well-documented that Martha most assuredly did not play that.

    Anyway, Gladys Knight>Martha Reeves>>>>>>>Diana Ross.

Personally, I'd have gone for Mary, but history is written by the victors and all that...

  • [color:green]Gladys Knight>Martha Reeves>>>>>>>Diana Ross. [/color]

That's 'cause Gladys has had a respectable career before AND after Motown, so she wasn't under Berry Gordy's thumb like them other acts.

    Yes.

I slow down Supremes' records sometimes - I like Ross' voice more then...more rich. I know her pitch is what defines her, but I think a little more bass and depth sound better on her.

Which Soulettes? You mean the one on Dud Sound that I'm looking at right now?

  • I'll take Martha and the Vandellas over any other "girl group" or whatever.
