    Man, this is a shame, but I don't think there are many people that lived a fuller life than he did.

    I'll always consider myself fortunate to have seen him perform while he was with us.

    Exactly. Rest in peace to one of the greatest of all time.

    those roach+brown albums are some of the best music ever recorded

    Shit yes... not to mention (Monks) Brilliant Corners... or his later recordings Members, Don't Git Weary and Survivors. Survivors is on some other level altogether when he was deep into the composition and taking drums into the melodicv realm... check Billy The Kid / JasMe / ... of that album. All solo drum stuff - frikkin amazing.

    Hell, too much music to mention

    Roach / Blakey / Williams = bebop / post bop holy trinity

    Is Roy Haynes still alive /laying?? He is the bizniz too
