    Or for Klute?

Klute exists, but is sort of a peice.

Damn, just looked it up on Popsike. If any OST is worth it though....thing is too damn good.

It's a bootleg with bad sound quality. And if I remember correctly, the songs I enjoyed the most while watching the film were not on the OST, so I ended up selling it pretty quickly.

Wait the one with the pink cover is a bootleg? And it doesn't have that garage-ish song with the big drums that goes "higher, higher, HIGHER!!!!"? Cause that was the best song/scene in the whole movie.

I think that one's on the LP, but I wasn't feeling it very much. The drums are nice, though.

    Diabolik (Ennio Morricone)

I don't know about a full soundtrack, but the theme ("Deep Down") had a 45 release. I remember Sugar Hill having a good uptempo fight theme, but I haven't seen it in a while.

There was a 70s failed TV pilot-movie called Madame Sin with Bette Davis and Robert Wagner that had a jazz guitar and horn section theme with a nasty drum break

Yeah, there's a 45 with Christy on vocals, but the instrumental tracks were never released on vinyl.

I'm bringing this thread back if only to help fill my waning Netflix queue!

    Repulsion: Chico Hamilton
Who Killed Mary What's 'Er Name?: Gary McFarland

Also, anybody seen Badge 373? From the trailer it seems to have a Mandrill-like soundtrack going on.

Born to Win OST by William S. Fischer. Plaaayer.
Weren't those tracks on his Circles LP on Embryo?

did Black Samurai have an ost? watched it today, some nice tracks on there..

Someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they used library tracks for that movie. Been a long time since I saw it, but I remember thinking the music sounded familiar.

you my friend... are 100% correct. walter murphy (of terd disco fame!) worked for major records (an american library label) before his crossover terd success. he made a few albums worth of music for major, one of which (#6088) was used in black samurai. the only way to own this blaxploitation ost is to cop major #6088. the track "creepy street" off #6088 is the shit! it was used at the start of black samurai when the chick was getting kidnapped. MAD BRAEKS YO!

    What about:

Herbie Hancock - The Spook Who's Sat By The Door
Don't mention that crappy bootleg that's around at the moment - I could tell you where every ripped-off track comes from, and the dialogue etc is straight off VHS.

Herbie Hancock - Death Wish OST
But that WAS released you say? Well, a re-recording was released as the soundtrack, but the film company owns the music recorded with the film. Go and get the DVD - listen to Thrust - era funk with Harvey Mason on drums. And the film version of the title track is brilliant - Rhodes-drenched, double bass etc
    If only they'd release that.

'The Organization' starring Sidney Poitier, had a good soundtrack - not sure if that was ever released?

One track from Spook came as a flexi disc with Down Beat mag ca. 1974, but I think that's about it.

what about ralph bakshi`s movies? i know there exists a fritz the cat OST but what about

    and

  • TomOTomO 169 Posts
    hey roisto,
    got doubles of the flexidisc.
side 2 does indeed include the theme from 'the spook who sat by the door' - but it's not the movie version (check out the DVD for the fully orchestrated badness).
the version on the flexidisc is actually from the headhunters recording session. they recorded 8 tracks but only 4 fitted on the record. the flexidisc fades out after maybe 4 min, but the full version is much longer.

It is not a bootleg. The composer was really pissed off that the producers had no intention of realeasing an OST, so he went ahead and had some pressed up after hours at the pressing plant. So private press yes, bootleg no...but, it wasnt properly mastered for vinyl hence the weird sound.

Allow me to bestow upon you a graemlin. Now I can go back through my piles of horrible Major Libraries in the hopes that #6088 slipped into my grip.

    The Doberman Gang

My friend ended up sampling it from a VHS copy. No vinyl exists (that I know of). Shame 'cos the S/T is

Here's the song my boy made from the sample:

  • That US remake of Get Carter ie Hit Man has the usual blaxploitation sound and breaks!

  • i was thinking' 'bout this the other day after one of the mitchell bros. died ..I do Film Transfers (telecine) work .. a while back i tranfered some Mitchell Brother porno shorts from the early seventies .. the soundtrack on the shorts was Mike Bloomfield doing porno funk cuts that were pretty dope .. unfortunately the sound was only 35mm optical sound track with heavy breathing over it ... made a couple of inquiries if there were any 3 stripe mag masters or 1/4 " original to no avail...wondering if anybody has seen any boots of this Bloomfield material...

This release on Simply Vinyl from 2001 was based on David Shire's original master tapes. It sounds great.

Re: The Organization. I've never seen the flick, but I read that Gil Melle did the soundtrack. Sounds interesting. Got to check that out sometime. Doberman Gang sounds nice too. Kooky plot.
