Alot of Blaxploitation movie sdtk were never made or lost.
If they were made it was only because people demanded it. So now we have bootlegged recordings EX: Shampoo, BlackBelt Jones!!
true
some of these sound like ass and some sound ok[bbjones]
either way i buy them all
can you say ROCKIT SCIENTIST RECORDS?
Yes - and yes, Jack sings one version of the theme,
I think over the main titles.
It came out on a limited euro CD a few years ago, but that's it.
No original OST released.
I think a woman does a version in the end credits? or arent there like 3 versions sung during the movie.
Seems to me that Fine Young Cannibals do songs in that movie that never made it wax, or cassette.
the uptempo track at around 9:10 is bananas! david axelrod related... from what i've read.
Klute exists, but is sort of a peice.
i have the radio spots for these three and theres a 45 of the title track of 5 done by keisha brown(?) its been so long since i listened to it that im not sure thats the artist. i know its female and i liked it.
Correct. I think I bought this from you. 5 on the blackhand side is one of the few blaxpo movies I haven't seen, so I was never sure if this was really from the movie or just a cover version type thing.
I sold my copy in the Heat Rock Katrina auction. Picked it up from a psych/prog dealer for $12...
Damn, just looked it up on Popsike. If any OST is worth it though....thing is too damn good.
(After seeing the flick a few years ago on TV, maybe the MOVIE should have stayed unreleased.)
There are millions lost gems (..or JAMS ?)
(I will not list the ones that has been already "officially" bootleged )
Comes to mind some of the best ones (some of which I personally bootlegged for my own enjoyment) :
-That Man Bolt by Charles Bernstein
-The Slams by Luther Henderson
-La Mala Ordina di Armando Trovajoli
-Swithblade Sisters by Les Baxter (the the title song is great !)
-Get Christy Love by Jack Elliott
-Hit Man by H.B. Barnum
-..And justice for all- Dave Grusin
-The Black Godfather by Martin Yarbrough
-The Super Chick by Allan Alper
-The Hit! and St. Ives , both by Lalo
-Trick Baby by James Bond ( )
-Hammer by Solomon Burke (yes, him !)
....and the complete reels for the whole four seasons of Starsky and Hutch and Streets of S.F.
....in those shows are hidden some of the funkiest music ever heard
...also for the "bullet train" (Hanzo been issued on cd as well as Sister Street Fighter series and the Criminal Woman/Terryfing High School, etc
the title track kills me

It's a bootleg with bad sound quality. And if I remember correctly, the songs I enjoyed the most while watching the film were not on the OST, so I ended up selling it pretty quickly.
I don't know about a full soundtrack, but the theme ("Deep Down") had a 45 release. I remember Sugar Hill having a good uptempo fight theme, but I haven't seen it in a while.
There was a 70s failed TV pilot-movie called Madame Sin with Bette Davis and Robert Wagner that had a jazz guitar and horn section theme with a nasty drum break
