Not tryin' to threadjack or steal some thunder, but the other thread is albums, not tapes. What mixtapes do you listen to over and over and over?here's a few of mine:j rocc vs. jaylib- for a 25 minute promo, this kills itspinbad's rock the casbah- way ahead of the 1980's newfound popularity... back when it was still "ironic"no explanation necessary:i also ride for the "Syndromes" mixtapes (mostly west coast bias revealed)I also like a lot of the old Screw tapes- he did a promo for a Lil Keke album called "All Work, No Play" that is I'm sure there's a ton more that I can't think of right now.I'm listening to (and enjoying) the new Mad Decent Tel Aviv podcast right now.

is that still available? the one that Rapid Ric did for Bun-B's greatest verses (King of the Trill) was insane.
edit- i just looked at the link properties of the second one, and can't tell what it is. My work has some image hosts blocked.

riz - live from brooklyn part 2

    neil armstrong - 2 original

those two mixes are far and away my favs, along with spinbad's casbah but i can't really listen to all that 80s straight through.

the amount of time these guys put in is ridiculous...i wish there was more of these.

  • you guys are some q bert type nerds. Doesn't anyone here listen to Ron G, Doo Wop, DJ Juice????

  • djkingottodjkingotto 1,704 Posts
yup, i have some doo wop and ron g joints. got some double k and stretch armstrong tapes too.

my joint was the b-mello tape where he broke "come clean." haven't bumped it in a while as my tapes stay at the house and my car has the cassette player.

j-rocc sex machine today is my probably my favorite.

Doo Wop 95 Live is still in my car. I throw that shit on whenever the Ipod runs out of batteries (tape deck related).

    Neil Armstrong - Filthy

  • Bought a Wu mix cassette on the street in NY. I think I listed to it so much it turned to dust. I no longer have that beloved thing.

It was that type of thing when you're so young and cute and earnest that you carry it around with you to play for any willing or unwilling audience.
