More than 10 years ago I bought a bootleg tape at Camden titled Mellow Funk.

It features a track that is credited as G. Clinton - I'll Wait.

Anyone know this track as I've been looking for ages now.

The lyrics are something like "I'll wait till you come runnng back"

The sound is not typical Clinton

That's because it was probably recorded before he went psychedelic.

I have a 45 of "I'll Wait" by the Parliaments (George's old group)...released on Atco in '69 but recorded a couple of years earlier, and it sounds like it. Straightahead Detroit soul song, no funk or hard-rock influences like Funkadelic would have been doing by then.

Mark Res has a 45 listed on his current list, could this be it???

    GEORGE CLINTON

    ABC (VG+) - 7" Vinyl

    PLEASE DON'T RUN FROM ME

    1974

Nice bit of Jerry Fuller-produced Northern Soul from George - few surface marks so reduced down from ??20 like last time - I think this was UK-only too...? Was a big spin @ The Wigan Casino..."

If it's on ABC, then it's by the white George Clinton, who had an entire ABC LP that was no relation to the P-Funk mob.

'I'll Wait' came out as a Revilot 45 first - backed with 'A New Day Begins' - it's probably the rarest Parliaments Revilot release - clean it seems to be worth about $50

'I'll Wait' was also done by Pat Lewis on a Solid Hit 45( from '67 I think) & Funkadelic on the 'Standing on the Verge of Getting It On' lp.
