There was a record fair in AK this morning, those Blue Note reissues probably will look familiar to a couple of people on here & weren't really from the fair The rest of the stuff except Terry Callier/Rotary Connection was cheap at the fair, it wasn't bad as far as the local fairs go, but not as much good soul & funk as there has been & the 45s I saw were mostly pretty uninspiring & condition is always a factor.

Came across this at record sell-off today in Sydney. Never seen this before. It's got Linda Tillery doing a really funky cut called 'Nina.'

The Maki is a re-ish of her first.
The 4-channel one is a similar cover to one that I actually wanted! Still, has a couple of good covers on it.
    The other two rule.

Top left is an OST with some nice funk/disco tracks
    Rock Day is...Rockday
Suzuki Shigeru is former a Happy End member. Some really cool shit on this.
I love Psyche Rock, but this 12" is...

Bottom two are 70's Coke Commercials in Rock & R&B styles...and a pretty good local Dallas '73 lounge jazz trio

Man, I haven't posted on one of these in awhile. The Bay Area has been treating me well over the past week. Between HPB (Je**e have you been finding stuff there?), a garage sale, and the Ashby flea things have been good and very cheap. Everything below is out and about real world except the James Brown.

The Impressions is a classic, Maxine Weldon is great Detroit funky session musicians stuff, Nikki Giovanni is killer spoken word stuff, Johnny Hammond is surprisingly good Jazz-Funk.

Soul Searchers, James Brown, & The Impressions are obvious staples. Perfumed Garden is strangeasfuck sitar psych exotica stuff with a girl who praises Allah, talks about sex, and makes sexual moaning noises all on the same record.

The S.O.U.L. came up outta nowhere (HPB in effect) and is a damn clean copy. The Mac is late 80s Bay Area raps with a funky instrumental called smooth. Cover is priceless.

Paul Humphrey is a staple for me, nice to find another decent copy. The Coke 45 is the "Real Thing" one as used in Product Placement, weird record for sure. Sylvers 45 is off Sylvers I. People's Choice is decent NOLA 70s funky stuff, but nothing too special IMO.

The Aaron Neville on the left is real early, great record, I want a cleaner copy. Iron Butterfly in the middle is a great bassline but I find most of their stuff unlistenable. Another Sylvers 45 on the right as well.

Oh yeah, almost forgot about this one. I tend to find a lot of the typical jazz-funk stuff real stale, but I highly reccomend this record.

  • I found this album by 'les schleu schleu', a group from Haiti. And what surprised me is the fact that the cover is the same as 'Ritual' by Nico Gomez...

fairly common case of the same photo sold twice..
seen doubleganger covers a few times, like the lord funk record that my hommie has, i have a disco comp with the same cover ( i would have prefered the lord funk joint )
...and other girly stock covers like this:

Okko - c'est ne pas un original. Seulement, un atone, novateur pressage. Pas vrai???

i dont know what that means im afraid. somethjing about the Okko pressing? if so, i dont know anything about it. the quality and printing method of the cover doesnt look like a recent reissue but the disc is really minty--- so maybe it is.

I don??t know which pressing you have got there, but the OG has a red BASF label in the upper left corner of the cover. Looks like this:
