"25 Years Of Rock"

So recently my dad suddenly figured out that the crates of LPs in my living room might imply that I enjoy spinning some vinyl from time to time, and he gave to me this box of records he had in the back of a closet for at least 20 years, and he doesn't know where he got it. He certainly never played them. It's a complete set of "25 Years Of Rock", a radio show that was apparently broadcast on the BBC around 1980. An audio timeline, rock songs interspersed with news items of the featured year. It's just an unlabeled cardboard box with all the records in sleeves separated by pieces of cardboard. Mint condition, most of them probably never seen a needle, some I played once or twice.A bit of online research I'd done in the past leads me to believe (possibly incorrectly) that these were for distribution to the BBC studios but were not commercially released. I have seen the occasional eBay auction for individual records, but never an entire set.Anybody know anything about these? Ballpark value?

some more info I found, from a british record shop's website

In 1981, the BBC, in conjunction with Billboard USA, produced a weekly series for Radio Broadcast that integrated news items with popular songs that had been issued as singles. This concept was later adapted into a television series.

On offer here are a selection of the Transcription discs that were for Radio Broadcast purposes, titled ' 25 YEARS OF ROCK'.

There are no cue sheets. Possibly none were issued, as these LP's are not banded, being as the news items blend in with
the beginning and end of each song, with many being the full version (i.e. not abridged). However the previous owner has
written down on paper the tracks and news items featured on each record.

Not the complete set available, hence the selling of individual discs. All are genuine ' BBC TRANSCRIPTI0N SERV1CES' discs.
All are standard recordings. Duration of each side is at least 50 minutes, therefore each disc is 100+ minutes.
They appear to have been played two or three times only.

AS per line set out here: single disc @ ??15 ; matching pair @ ??30

You would have undoubtly had a better responce to this had you initially posted it on Craiglist.

........then someone would have seen it and inadvertently posted it here as a Joke.

Please Take that shit to Craigslist.com first from now on so we have more to work with.

Thanks for putting me in my place, y'all. Every once in awhile I get all uppity and ask some record-related question. I forget that this is actually a graemlin-collecting forum and a repository of "good look" judgements.

    As you were.

actually I think that batch of records sounds rather interesting. I was just saying that it would have been quite a craiglist ad.

whats kind of rock music does it include ?

    Popular?
