I found a CD called Ghana Soundz that is a mix of rare Ghanaian psych cuts from when the releaser went crate digging in Ghana...... its actually a
of west african rock (don't really hear that too much!)with some pretty over the top psych tracks but "simigwado" is my favorite. has anyone ever found any west african psych vinyl? I haven't but then again I live in arkansas

It has quite a funk and jazzy sound on some songs (one even is a weird fusion of funk, jazz and cuban styles)
"Mother Africa" is basically the VERY stereotypical late 60's/early 70s funk rock instrumental. "Simigwado", "Ageishika" and "Psychedelic Woman" are the best
Don't know if I would call this stuff "psych" per se.
better than BLO imo but a matter of taste of course!
listen here: EDZAYAWA
another killer afro-soul/funk, rock album from nigeria on Afrodisia, many good tunes
(one track is on the killer compilation "afro baby" by soundway records)
listen to another tune here: MEBUSAS
unique sounding Disco Blaze LP from nigeria, a couple of great tunes (pic maybe later/next week, my laptop at home is down)... listen here: DISCO BLAZE
speaking of Gyedu, this is more a soul/funk & afrobeat LP but a really good one all the way through
(some tunes appeared on a compilation called "Booniay" using the same cover as this Gyedu LP)
listen here: GYEDU-BLAY AMBOLLEY
cheers
