Now this is a man who should have made a comeback of some kind. That New York soul sound of the sixties (Chuck Jackson, Maxine Brown, etc.) is highly underrated, and Freddie Scott was one of the better cats in the field. His "Loving You Is Killing Me" single (on Shout) was one of his better moments, as was his Probe album (I Shall Be Released), which used to be a common find up until a few years ago. Rest easy, Freddie.

  • Damn!! horrible news!!! R.I.P.

Yeah, I learned of this a couple of weeks ago - thought
I posted about it but maybe never did. Providence, Rhode Island's
greatest - he made amazing records throughout the 60's into the
70's, what a voice, man - what a voice. Sad to know it is silent now.

    Absolutely.

    RIP

  • On a brighter note, it appears that some good unreleased material exists...Fred Jr. has mentioned a project he is planning to get some of it released.
