Has anyone read the book "The Old Barrio Guide to Lowrider Music: 1950-1975." I'm curious if i's any good?
i have not. but i think drez and jinx have. from what i hear its basically a discography/index of east side soul/barrio music. here's the site where you can still pick it up.
I'm still interested in a Soulstrut review from someone's who's read it.
it's aight, lot of stuff not covered, its more of a who's who directory feat artists in a-z w/ a small write up on each band... it's cool for the price, was ex[ecting a lot more... for a good read i would get the land of 1000 dances book... ahh fuck it get both...
Hmmm. I was hoping it was more of a history of the culture w/ a particular focus on the music. Is that more along the lines of Land of a Thousand Dances?
it looks best in kodachrome...but as my roommate noted yesterday ektachrome has more chrome, might be more appropriate for this thread. the black and white is purely for decoration...woooooooo woooooooooooo
ride: 1964 lincoln continental playing: never again - whispers
64 lincoln is the joint. I almost bought one to work on, but after I found out the Vacuum system that pretty much controls everything in that ride was shot, I deaded the deal... Finding somone to work on those things is a byaatch.
But the suicide doors are whats up... I'll get one yet along with my 51 merc.
I have a friend that has a 69..which is similar to this one but bigger. He has had a really tough time trying to get it up and running..constant problems. Too bad..because that's a great ride.
yeah, i dont know much about cars or car maintenance, but the older them things get, the lousier they run. dudes that want a 51 merc will be dumping a ton of cash in that thing just to keep it running. unless you have the money to rip out the insides and rebuild the engine from the ground up. had a friend that had a chop top early 50s buick. he'd drag it down the block then push it back to his house. but for that 1 block the dude was big pimpin.
soulrez you gonna come all greased up.... uuuhhh i mean creased.. yeah creased... hope your iron isnt already on the way to nyc..
ha ha! im on the floor over here.
i heard dude packed it away already and is creasing his shit with a bumpered vise-grip.
ha ha! now im on the floor, REAL HEADS KNOW THE DEAL, re: bumpered vice grips! but yeah the iron & my buzzers packed away, im goin uncreased ha*er i mean hippy styleeee!!!
