And God bless Art Laboe for giving us Dyke & the Blazers and the Music Machine on his Original Sound label (neither of whom were necessarily "low rider" acts, but were giants all the same).

All shall be revealed in time. Haha! Nah seriously I'm just getting the cover together and tightening a couple screws. It'll be done for the store opening.

It is straight oldies, latin, garage. Lowrider mix to remind me of home

Me its all about the 51 merc hard top chopped with frenched lights and door handles... maybe an extended back end... lowered of course... shit is bananas

Also known as the Lead Sled.... banoodles.

Anyone ever seen ZZ Top's caddy?? Shit is bananas too... Beautiful work.

And God bless Art Laboe for giving us Dyke & the Blazers on his Original Sound label

first on the Arizona Artco label though... then transferred out when the Artco label was brought to LA and over to Laboe and OS.

theres an Ace comp coming out this summer of Dyke's Arizona stuff he did and the OS stuff as well. plus newspaper clippings and a whole bunch more. im looking forward to picking that up

Wasn't 'Funky Broadway' the only Dyke 45 on Artco?

Not to take away from Artco, but even though they started it, Laboe deserves credit for carrying it on and taking Dyke further.

And it also amazes me how the Music Machine and Dyke go in and out of print, but those damned OLDIES BUT GOODIES compilations not only stay in the catalog (with tracks added, reconfigurated and deleted), and I suspect keep that label in business. I mean, there's even an O.B.G. board game...and for a few years in the 70's there was an O.B.G. nightclub as well.

i totally agree with you Pick... but theres a lot of cats out there that dont know their history and i think its important that they know... that was it.

and yes Larr it is the only Artco 45 he did.

Low rider oldies are something I had been feeling quite a bit a coiuple months ago. Here are some titles I like:

Billie Stewart - Sitting in the Park
Tommy James - Crystal Blue Persuasion
Cornelious Brothers - Too Late to Turn Back Now
Brenton Wood - I Like the Way You LOve Me
The Persuaders - Thin Line Between Love and Hate

I had a dream the other night that I found a Jackie Mitto 45 that covered "Hello, Stranger" and was jazzed at how dope it was going to be. This 45 doesn't exist, dose it?
